Love its location, love its goods but hate shopping there. From the queues down the aisles, to the staff shouting out instructions to those queues that another checkout has a shorter queue. If you go in to buy one item, you have no alternative than to stand in a queue behind three people with a trolley full. Self service checkouts would be so much better in this store as this would halve most visits. If you buy plants, you need to get them the day they arrived. If you don’t, you will still be expected to pay full price for a withering specimen that is practically begging to be put out of its misery. Lastly, the shop lifters. I’ve seen numerous incidents of shoplifting in this store but the staff are indifferent to it at best and explain that they aren’t allowed to chase thieves and that the Police aren’t contacted unless the items are collectively worth over a thousand pounds. Lidl has so much going for it, if only they could see the potential in making a few changes at this particular store .One of those things being a course in...
Read moreOk supermarket. Expected more plastic reduction Awareness???? Not really won over. Personally I would Prefer loose or open bag for fresh fruit and veg not wrapped in tightly in plastic. Obviously some things too delicate not to be. Their tissues even have wrapping in plastic and then have an inner covering of the opening in plastic too. Their parking places quite tight for van or larger family vehicles. Prices less than Tesco. Felt sorry for lovely existing village houses so close to massive building and now hemmed in by huge wall. Still think this type of shop should be in an Industrial setting like Dibden Tesco off the A326 but at Hardley. There they have Large plots and plenty of parking. Not near residential houses. Let’s see if it rejuvenates Hythe like we were promised. Hope employees are locals too...
Read moreThis is a shame. I like this brand as it really does have some great items that you can't find elsewhere and prices for produce and meat is very good. At this branch they never have enough tills open so on my visit I abandoned my trolley (sorry). One till open with 12 people in the queue. Some had small basket but others had full loads. After standing there for a while I waited to here the announcement that another till was about to open. That never came so after 12 minutes of waiting with no movement and the estimated time for me to reach the till being past 30 minutes I left and went to the compilation and served quickly. Ok. I may have spent more but my time that afternoon was more precious so I think I ultimately saved. Real shame they can't get the tills to...
