I was really looking forward to getting a hot baguette from Archers, having seen the long queues and the great reviews, and thought Iād treat myself as Iāve been under the weather.
Iām not sure if the lady who served me was having a bad day, or just misinterpreted my headphones and lack of eye contact , because her service was rushed, dismissive, and quite rude. I purposefully chose a quieter time to go, so there wasnāt a large queue. I wasnāt initially aware that she was waiting to serve me as there had only been one server present when I went in. I asked for a pork baguette, expecting to be offered sauce etc as the person before me had been, instead she just put butter on it (again without asking if I wanted it), and proceeded to fill the roll. I did Unsuccessfully try and get her attention to request the sauce, and when I did get the chance to politely ask for sauce and stuffing, I was made to feel as if I was being inconvenient. The final insult was having paid for my order it was unceremoniously dumped onto the top of the counter, (not handed to me as the previous customers had been). At which point, without any thanks or farewell, she turned her back and went to the next customer.
Now, Iād understand some of this behaviour if there had been a rush to serve a massive queue, however, as I said, there wasnāt one. My roll was ok, but could have been more carefully constructed had I been asked my preference at the start of the order (sauce first, room for stuffing etc).
Honestly Iād probably avoid going in again, as the ātreatā experience ended up being negative for me.
Iād suggest that perhaps the staff might benefit from some training on hidden disabilities and treating people with equality. Yes I was wearing headphones and didnāt make eye contact, but thatās because Iām Autistic, not rude. I shouldnāt have to wear a sign telling people that in order to be treated with respect.
Overall very disappointed, and the experience has left me feeling...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDrove a 45 min round trip to get a hot baguette, Iād heard really great things about Archers so thought it worth it. The queue was long and parking was a bit of a nightmare but the staff seemed really efficient and friendly, they quickly made their way through the queue. I ordered a pork baguette with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling, the crackling was probably the best Iāve ever had, however the baguette whilst a really generous portion was completely flavourless, I couldnāt taste any apple sauce and the stuffing was gloopy and bland the pork was watery and again pretty flavourless, there was no seasoning in anything, so it was all just a bit stodgy and bland! Such a shame and maybe just a bit of an off day for Archers as most customers seem to love the baguettes. Hopefully on my next visit it will change my opinion and Iāll leave a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointed to drive out to my favourite spot to watch the woman serving be rude to the customer before me. Then I got the same treatment. I asked for an impossible baguette adding crackling to a turkey baguette but she was visibly annoyed I asked. Then went in whispers saying how I was another person asking for the same. Then she was annoyed I asked for sauce as she didn't ask if I wanted any, or any onion. I usually order more but I just wanted to get out. Honestly a very dated approach to customer service. Hot tip, if more and more people are asking for a certain Combo you could have suggested mixed meat option then I could have done it. Instead you were...
