The Inn Plaice — Local services in Nottingham

I used to use this place regularly and it was good. But due to an apparent change in management/ownership it dropped off a bit, most especially with the service - the people serving would often ignore you, after casting a glance. So I stopped going.

However, I've used it a couple of times recently (it seems it is under new management again). The first time was brilliant - the guy doing the cooking was also serving, and he was friendly and efficient. The next time, someone else was serving and it took several minutes for them to come out of the back room.

The fish and mushy peas are fine, as are the chips. And they also do battered burgers, which are also nice.

Edit: I have ramped my score up to 5. I've been using this chippie now since the new owners/operators took over and they really are absolutely brilliant. Very friendly, too.

Lovely staff but I think the delivery orders take priority over the customers in the shop. Used to always come here but since lockdown I've found that the waiting time in shop takes longer and longer. Last time I waited 15 minutes for undercooked chips and soggy fish. If you have transport I recommend going to Ruddington or west bridgeford(wolds). Overall time from leaving home to getting back is no different but the food is far superior. Shame really, this used to be the best chippy in clifton. Edit-recently went back here for a quick bag of chips and can honestly say they were some of the nicest chips I've ever had. Honestly the worst place ever. We ordered 2 burgers (1 chicken, 1 beef) (with salad and mayo) and chips (x1 with curry sauce x1 with cheese), they came with no salad or sauce on the burgers the beef burger was hard and burnt and the chicken burger was mushy. The chips taste like the were made last week and the curry sauce was just like really thick jelly. Now even after all that I thought I’d still give it a go and eat it. That didn’t work out well for me, the chicken burger somehow tasted as if there was sand inside it. I tried to see what it was but couldn’t see a thing. Had to throw EVERYTHING away! Not one...
