Skylife Lounge — Local services in Rochford

If i could id give it no stars. We flew out on the 12th October and we booked for 4 people at 35 pounds each. We got there at 5pm and was absolutely shocked! Rude miserable woman on the door to start with! Didn't bother to ask if anyone had any allergies so we had to figure out that for ourselves!!! Went in and sat down, we was all hungry and looking forward to eating until we see what 140 pounds would get us.. stale rolls, crackers and cheese and two metal containers with some slop at the bottom! One had peas and slop and the other we dont even know what it was. There is a glass fridge with cold pots of slop with cherries (we think) if you wanted that for dinner.. oh or if you was really hungry a bowl of wine gum sweets. You had to ring a doorbell to get a drink and then after 20 mins the fizzy drink machine was turned off. Which had no diet options anyway. So ive kept asking for the email address to make a formal complaint amd actually would like to know what costs 35 pounds each? But no one can provide that yet. Really gone down hill, used the lounge 2 years ago and was fantastic. However used it again in March 2019 the complementary sandwiches have been replaced with cheap hotdogs, there were also a bowl of crisps a jar of nuts, pancakes, salad, cheese and biscuits, and a few cakes. Drink selection wasn’t bad, had Stella on draught which you serve yourself in half pint glasses, red and white wine and a selection of spirits.

You can check into the lounge 3 hours before your flight, but if your checking in luggage then you can’t check in your luggage until 2 hours before your flight and because the lounge the the other side of security you can’t get in until you have checked your luggage in, also they call your flight for boarding around 45 minutes before departure, so realistically by the time you have checked your luggage in and gone through security, you are lucky if you have an hour in the lounge.

HM Prison Catering spend more on their food than this location. It's a complete deception. It's a nice space, with a whole dining set-up, But whoever designs the hot food counter should be ashamed of themselves. They either don't have enough budget, or they are making a huge profit for themselves. The quality of everything is very poor. Except perhaps the coffee. When you see everything made from chickpeas and thickened with cornflour, you know somebody is having a laugh, and running away with the money. The menu description doesn't really correspond to the 'slop' that's on offer. The cheese and salad section was slightly better but not redeeming enough. Otherwise, it's a comfortable space to relax and the staff seem friendly. But I'd definitely eat somewhere else! Probably my least favourite lounge in the whole world.
