Came here last week, was impressed with the food but not blown away by the service, was a generally ok experience, so when my dad suggested we go for lunch I said letās give the Anne Boleyn another go. Well, what an experience we had. Iāve never been spoken to so rudely, the lady at the bar either needs a new job that she actually wants to be at, or needs retraining on customer service.
The first issue was when she asked what table we were at and how many of us. I told her and she responded with āthatās a table for up to 8, you obviously canāt sit thereā and told me we needed to move before ordering. I wouldnāt mind but my toddler had ran and sat at that table and it was reasonably empty so I didnāt see the issue. So we moved table and I returned to the bar.
Placed my order, and asked to use my staff discount. She produced the scanner with a huff, I explained I donāt have a QR code I only have the discount code which I received through work. Was told I canāt use this and need the QR code, I explained I donāt have one and I used it just last week and never had an issue. She tried to insinuate I was using someone elseās code! So I loaded up my work portal and showed her, to be told sheāll remember my face and is only doing it this once!!š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ is that supposed to be a threat?! Also making a point of noting my full name! Good luck love, because Iām not dishonest and did nothing wrong.
She had an issue and an attitude from the get go, I work in retail management and know how frustrating work can be and that we all have āoffā days but this was beyond that. Iāve never felt so condescended and disgusted in my life. She just spoke to me like I was a major inconvenience and a criminal!! And also you absolutely can just type a code in even if I did have a QR code, whatever the CUSTOMER prefers.
I spoke to a server about this and she was lovely and very apologetic. She said she would inform her manager- any good manager would come out and apologise themselves but never saw him/her. Maybe thatās just me in my role, but Iād want my customer to leave feeling their issue has been resolved.
Wonāt be returning simply because of this, if youāre looking for nice food and donāt care if youāre spoken to like a child-...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs you can see from my previous reviews for other venues I'm not one for negativity, but I will give an honest appraisal on our visit last Sunday afternoon. My wife went to the bar and stood by what we remembered as the food ordering point and no one came. My wife then moved round to the other side of the bar and was then ignored by the bar staff who served others. After eventually being acknowledged she was then informed to go to the food ordering point ???and then had to wait again as people were now being served . We ordered the Sunday Roast and Fish and chips. The fish was bland to say the least and the side salad was brown and wilted and very very sad looking. My wife's Sunday roast was very roasted, the carrots looked like they had been microwaved within an inch of their life. The roast potatoes were soft and squidgy. The staff were very disinterested and no one came over to ask us "was everything ok". To give balance we have used this pub on and off for the last 20years for 2 person, family and birthday meals and have always on the whole had a good dining experience but it just felt very sad there on this particular visit. Maybe we should have tried to bring it to the staff's attention while we were there but I just couldn't be bothered by looking at how the food looked to the naked eye. I just hope it was one of those very off days and the warm weather was having an affect on morale. +++ Update+++ After leaving the review there is a response asking me to email them so that I can discuss my review. I have replied leaving a contact number. But no response back. Can't be that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went to the Anne Boleyn around 4 o'clock today (6th Agust) and we're very unimpressed with our visit. We understood as we came that it was very busy and knew the wait would be longer than usual. When we first arrived we were served by a member of staff at the bar named Jainne who was very unhelpful. On a previous visit we had had the Yorkshire roast beef and horseradish rolls and had been told that the horseradish was unavailable. This visit we specifically asked for horseradish and peas and we're told by this member of staff that the meal includes these items. We then waited for over an hour (half an hour longer than the 45 minute wait we were told to expect) until our food arrived. The rolls did not have any horseradish or peas and when we mentioned this to jainne she was not very apologetic and made no effort to amend ger mistake. Whilst waiting for our mains to arrive we ordered two icecream desserts as we thought this might help get them out soon after the mains however after we finished our mains we then proceeded to wait yet another hour for the desserts to arrive. What was presented to us was nothinging like what was shown on advertisements. The dessert were shoved on front of us in soup bowls and not in glass dishes we had seen others eating out of or as shown in the advertisements. We had ordered a cookie/sweet mania sundae to share but what came out had no cookies what so ever and did not have any vinilla icecream. Once again jainne was very unapologetic and we did not think her customer service was very good at all. Overall it was not...
