Hooked Fish and Chips — Local services in Southampton

OK. Our usual F&C shop was closed, so we went to Hooked F&C, which gave us the opportunity for a nearby comparison. We had two large Cod @ £7.85 each and a large Chips @ £4.65. Hooked has obviously changed ownership and branding. The owners were clearly busy but offerd no banter or interaction with the customers and neither did the rest of the staff other than taking and giving the customer orders=4* Branding was also minimal & only just effective =2* So to the fish 🐟 on the positive side, the fish tasted lovely, as was the batter. The negative is it was overpriced, and though it looked a good size, the weight showed it was 25 to 30% less in weight compared to our usual F&C shop. Now the chips 🍟 They were lovely🥳 A nicely cooked & flavoursome chip. BUT at £4.65 for a large compared to £4.00 for a Medium at our usual, the large was also half the size in weight to the medium portion we usually buy. So would we go back? Well, Hooked F&C isn't the worst in Southampton by far, but its over priced for what you actually get on your plate. So we would actually award...

First and last time we use this place. We ordered 4 lge cod and chips for delivery approx. 2 miles from the shop. We were given pots of mushy peas that we did not order or want. Our order SHOULD have cost £ 40 maximum plus delivery. We were charged £71. The delivery took over an hour and the driver went to the wrong address, 1 mile away from us. We contacted the shop and questioned it. A very unhelpful man told us that it would be £68 if we had collected it!!!!!!! REALLY?? Insensed by this we contacted the shop again to question the high price. A female assistant said that it was the correct price we were charged. If you order for delivery from this shop then check and double check the cost first..... Fish & chips served by a waitress in an eat-in restaurant would be less than £17.50 per person!!!!!? Having checked their menu / prices on their website then we were deffinitly overcharged. We will never use or recomment this shop in...

Before I start with my negative review I must say the food was very nice... I am appalled and the cost through deliveroo as it came out more than double of what it would have been to collect. On questioning the price with the shop I was that the offer of deliveroo charges 40% commission bit we still paid more than this to have it delivered. My question is that if you as a shop want to have a good reputation then you should not use deliveroo to tarnish your review. The lady on the phone moaned about deliveroo and what I was trying to say you would be better to stay as a shop for collection only. I Just cannot understand you have put your business in the firing line. I will never use your shop again due to your attitude to my phone call and screaming and shouting on the phone.
