Great beach little visited due to access issues. Spent an hour just before and after a spring low tide. Had the beach all to ourselves. Lovely flat sandy beach with a steep cliff back and plenty of rock pools. Lots of space in a unique setting. Plenty of large rocks to perch on for those unmissable photos. Take a chance to spot the remains of the landing stage for the ochre mine. Access from the coastal path is not possible due to overgrown gorse and trees. I personally wouldn't try it due to the steepness of the path and unstable ground (see photo). If you keep an eye on the lowest tides it's possible to climb the rocks or a gentle swim from the end of Little Perhaver beach to access the beach. Alternatively it's a short 700m kayak from Gorran Haven Beach. It's possible to hire a kayak on the beach. Top tip 1. Camera, camera, camera don't forget it. Top tip 2. Check the tide times for the lowest tide to make access easy. Top tip 3. Don't!!!! Forget the incoming tide it comes in quickly and you can easily get cut off. Unless you can call a boat it's a ride in the...
Read moreGorran Haven beach and the little Perhaver beach are beautiful and when the tide is out they are both connected together which lovely as it makes the stretch so much bigger. There is a kayaking service which is £10 an hour (cash only) and is very popular with everyone. This place has everything you need for down the beach, ice cream, fish and chip and toilets up the road. There is a little shop but there isn’t much in there but it’s got everything you need. I must say their pasty’s taste incredible. The car park is a 5 min walk from beach and is rather big so had no problems parking and you pay with the person in the summer months. Lovely beach and people- would recommend.
Side note: the great Perhaver beach which is up from these beaches is only possible to get to by swimming or boating due to the no access down from the coastal path due to the cliff falling (a local told us) The walk up the hill is a killer as well so I wouldn’t bother unless you want to see the nice big houses that overlook the sea and see the view. Or walk across the coastal path as it is...
