I myself have had the absolute privilege in visiting the one & only, most wonderfully resplendent... weardale railway 'in-person' on saturday 5th of July 2025 - during a weekend holiday to county durham (with my mum), especially to the superbly imposing stanhope rly station - excellent hub/starting point of the weardale railway to (and from) bishop auckland,

The surrounding landscape scenery - the line forever roams, is as superbly eye-catching, very cascading, ever so breathtakingly captivating... also just as wonderfully uplifting as any other heritage railway put-together,

Every station/halt - serving their respectable destination, is as terrific as they're all full of character, nostalgia, even more than a story to tell... the line through wonderous weardale is one of the greatest I've ever visited,

My most favourite spots along the line, is across the viaduct above the river wear, the crossings - one of whom at the foot of a hilly street... even through fields where I even saw quite a lot of wildlife, including a deer, let alone wild bunny rabbits out there,

The motive power is as good as any other available motive power worth riding aboard along the line, which was also a historic extension of the stockton & darlington railway by the way

I myself now hope to hopefully revisit the weardale railway once again, someday.... so profoundly grateful to have chosen the landmark railway 200 year 2025 of whom this very year as a way in visiting the weardale railway for the...

We went for a mid- week visit and travelled from Stanhope to Walsingham. The journey was lovely, very scenic and we even saw some rabbits in one of the fields. After arriving back at Stanhope we visited the platform cafe. It was beautiful. The tea was served in china cups and saucers together with a complimentary custard cream and the individual teapots didn't spill a drop. This railway is definitely worth another visit. The volunteer staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the parking was ok and the stations are...

We went on the Santa train today and we were ment to be there for 2pm unfortunately my car broke down on the way there and we missed the train, the management was excellent and arranged for us to get on a later train, which was so lovely of them so our kids weren't disappointed, the train ride itself was fab the elves were engaging with the whole family and a lovely visit from Santa and Rudolph. The presents off Santa were great too. Overall a fabulous experience and we will definitely return. Thank you weardale...

I had a day trip to the line via Bishop Auckland. Friendly atmosphere and a great bunch of Volunteers who run the line in a safe and professional manner. The extension of services to Bishop Auckland from Wolsingham has just resumed after extensive engineering work. Pretty Scenery. The Weardale Station at Bishop Auckland is now much easier to reach following the construction of a direct walkway. Services operate on selected dates according to a colour-coded Timetable. Fares are realistic for a Volunteer-run Heritage Railway.

A small café which is nice and the staff are very welcoming and it's dog friendly.

A nostalgic train journey, we were on the journey as part of a wedding celebration. The journey was approximately 4hrs in duration, I would say we were very lucky with the weather. The train chudded through the scenic countryside in places one side was better than the other due to the trees coverage. Just before all the level crossings you got a blast from the train's horn. It was a lovely day out. Now down the question would I go again? I most probably wouldn't, I've had the experience of the nostalgia ride now.
