Can't fault the pub. Always attracts a great, friendly bunch of 'punters' which says a lot about the place. Very well priced for the area and has a good selection of drinks - real ales and the popular on-draught lagers, too. Also nice choice with the wines, soft drinks etc.
There's a beer garden out back and a pleasant little seating area out the front. The pub has a dart board if you fancy stepping up to the oche, and a pool table that's been fairly recently re-surfaced, I believe, so that makes for a good few frames as well. There's karaoke too, if that's your thing!
The staff are always lovely, and you get to know all of them well as they're always happy to chat with you.

Read moreBrilliant "real pub" with two fantastic real fires with actual coal and wood in them. Really well kept cask ales on our visit the Bombardier was only £2.90 a pint. the landlady was super welcoming. One side of the pub is hard flooring and dog friendly the other side cozy. both have brilliant fires. Best Kept Secret in Weardale. Also although the place is Old World it it is super super clean and a credit to those in charge. If you do fancy a bite to eat then the best bakery in Weardale is directly opposite. Think Greggs crossed with MasterChef crossed with the Hovis advert simply...
Read moreBest pub in Stanhope, with warm welcoming staff, a great friendly environment full of smiles. With accommodation to a high standard and great prices, you really can’t complain! In the winter time enjoy blazing fires in the bar and lounge, and in the summer enjoy the beer garden out back. Both family and pet friendly! We enjoyed a lovely drink in the beer garden on our last visit with the best bar snacks to offer. Our little dog was also greatly welcomed, to which she was even given a fresh bowl of water. A really great place! Would highly...
