Blackberries Patisserie — Local services in Sunderland

I used to really enjoy coming to Blackberries for a treat every couple of weeks. I messaged the shop on Facebook asking if they could make up some custom cheesecake pots as they are my favourite item they do, they said sure and that we could sort it out when I came by on the afternoon to buy the cheesecake pots they had that day. The owner then spoke quite rudely to me when I asked for only 4 pots, please note they didn’t specify in their messages or anywhere on their socials that there was an order limit. There was another customer in at the time and I was absolutely humiliated. I compromised and asked them to just put aside a few pots they had already planned on making, and came in today to pick them up. When I asked the lovely girl behind the counter what cheesecakes they were doing this week, she had to ask the owner, who said quite brashly again “I have no idea”. It was clear she was extremely annoyed, although I can’t fathom why? I have been a loyal customer and have made a point to visit whenever I can since they moved into Houghton Business Park, but the attitude of the owner is quite clear that if you can’t afford to buy large amounts then she wants nothing to do with you. Only giving 2 stars as the desserts are most of the time very nice, but the customer service you get leaves a bitter taste. I’ll just start making my own cheesecakes...

I came across this little gem accidentally and what honestly whatcha find. The cakes from blackberries are lush. I love snickers brownies and chocolate orange brownies. I also love their pulled pork baguette. I can keep listings the food to the yummy list.

They follow CORONA virus protocols strictly and only two people are allowed in the shop at a time with masks on. Well done to implement it. Staft is super friendly and allow dogs in the shop, which gets my thumbs up.

There is free parking infornt of the shop which is very convenient. Also there is a small park in front of the shops which is very handy if you cant wait to take your purchase home you cant sit and enjoy it...

We had the most wonderful wedding cake for our summer wedding in Durham. After having bad experiences with two (!!) previous wedding cake suppliers, we were losing faith on having a cake at all - but then I found Blackberries Patisserie on instagram and they were incredible. From the first consultation, through to the tasting box and digital design, customer service was brilliant, and the final design and cake flavours just perfect. We got so many compliments on the day from guests both on how pretty the cake looked and how delicious it was to taste. We would recommend you to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat - thank you so much for making our cake...
