Went to Whiteley Shopping in November 2024. Bought a pair of shoes, went to Rock Up with 3 kids and then had lunch, none were cheap but what is these days? To my total surprise I received a letter yesterday informing me I have a parking charge to pay of £60 for staying 16 mins over a 4 hour time limit. Now I'm am probably not the most observant person, especially trying to look after 3 kids, making sure they don't walk out into traffic etc but I did not see one single sign or notification of these parking rules, I am sure they are there somewhere but not prominent enough for me to look up and take notice. this seems to be by design and a recurring theme judging by the other reviews. So fair is fair, they are your rules and I broke them, you got me! I have paid the £61.50 and cleared the ticket, well done on your ingenuity, you caught me cold and I say it's a fair cop. I will also say, swearing to God in his heaven I will never set one more foot, spend one more minute or spend one more pound in Whitely Shopping, no cinema, no climbing, no shop, no restaurant. I can only hope enough people feel the same and slowly over time the businesses at Whiteley Shopping fail and you are left with another empty shell of a shopping centre much like most high streets now in the UK. People often ask why the high street is dying, well its this, this is the reason. I hope your short term profits keep you warm at night. I on the other had will now have to scale back my Christmas a little, maybe less presents for my 2 year old, she will not remember the day she was cheated, I will...
Read moreI had a great afternoon. I collected my new suit. I had a nice lunch. I did some window shopping. Yes, men window shop too, and then i drove home.
I find it much more enjoyable than shopping in Southampton city centre. In the city, every time you enter or leave a shop or walk down the street, you are continually confronted by homeless people asking for money. Only some fake it.
I've recognised people who i know have a place to live. Some even have a job. One man i recognised recently lives in a street near me with his partner and 3 children. He has a job in Lidl in Totton as one of their shop managers working part-time afternoons and weekends. He drives a 2020 Ford 5 seater MPV. They also own a 6 sleeper mobile home, which is parked at the side of their house.
You can't trust people nowadays, so use your intuition or gut feeling. Some homeless people wear an official laminated id badge proving they are homeless, so I mostly give to them.
People like the Lidl homeowner MPV and mobile home driving guy make me so angry doing what they do. Pretending to be homeless to gain extra money.
If you can spare the time, talk to the homeless person beforehanding over money. Check them out first. Most smell bad, and their clothes are filthy. Use your gut feeling.
We need to prevent people from living on the streets. Find them homes to live in where they can feel safe. Have a hot shower or bath. Cook for themselves and perhaps watch TV.
Southampton City Council needs to pull their finger out and do something about it and do it quickly!!! People are dying on...
