EDIT
To add to this review, the customer care team emailed, blamed their poor customer service on my daughter’s disabilities, and then proceeded to tell me they weren’t going to do anything! So, no, they didn’t resolve the issues! On a brighter note, went to Wagamamas last night just 200 metres walk from here, it was stunning and the staff were incredible!
I’ve been to Dim T a few times before, and always really enjoyed it, but this time really made me question why I’d bother again.
We booked a table, explaining we have two autistic children, and that it was one daughter’s birthday, so if we could be sat somewhere quieter than the rest of the restaurant. Never received a reply so assumed this was ok.
We entered into the restaurant to find Vlada, who had obviously read the notes on the booking as she mentioned the quiet table, but never once said Happy Birthday to our daughter or anything like that. It’s not like we were expecting a full on party or anything, but saying Happy Birthday might have been nice! Unfortunately, the table we were placed at was directly under a speaker blaring out music far too loud for the restaurant, so we found our own table which was better situated for our girls needs. Vlada seemed a bit out out by this so we just ignored her and got on with it!
The food. It was ok, but nothing spectacular. We’ve always enjoyed the food in both the Winchester and Whiteley branches, but this just wasn’t good enough. The duck and ginger dim sum was overcooked, and pretty slimy tbh. We couldn’t get it off the greaseproof paper in one piece! We had chicken pad Thai next, and it was pretty tasteless, a lot smaller than it has ever been before, plus the noodles were overcooked, so it was a stodgy mess. The Mochi was really nice though!
Finally, we requested the bill once the dessert arrived, which was provided quickly, but then Vlada came over to us, and abruptly asked if we were ready to pay, halfway through the dessert! Needless to say, we asked her to come back after we had finished the dessert.
All in all I would say it wasn’t the best experience, and things need to improve for us to go back. It’s a shame as the restaurant was pretty empty, it was Saturday 13th April at lunchtime, and they clearly need...
Read moreGreat food as a takeaway and eat in. I took my husband for his birthday dinner. Had an awful service experience. We were spoken to by who I presume was the manager, giving me attitude because he delivered the wrong drinks to us, and before I realised my husband took a sip of what he thought was a non alcoholic beer. He doesn’t drink so you can imagine he was a disappointed by this mistake. But to have a manager tell us we took the order so it’s fundamentally our fault doesn’t make any sense to me. Either way, not wanting to ruin the experience we ordered our food, and expected our starters to arrive and then our mains, which during the process the waitress joked that of course the mains will arrive after. Guess what that was messed up as well, half way through our starters we get our mains, which they had to take back. Then we have another drinks order arrive to our table that wasn’t ours, but the table next to us. Twice in a one sitting is certainly identifying a front of house issue and our fault. Definitely got the feeling the manager was talking about us from a distance. Myself and my husband work in government/client facing roles so we both know just apologise when YOU make a mistake and not make it the customers issue. Maybe designate one member to a table, we had 7 different servers. The tables are too close and not big enough for the 2 people who want multiple items of food, it’s all just awkward. We just wanted a romantic meal and you just crammed everyone in one corner rather than fill the space up elsewhere. The restaurant was not even full capacity. The service just seems to push you out rather than let you enjoy the food at your own pace. We haven’t eaten in Dim T and usually get a takeaway. Probably stick to the takeaways from now. The chefs are brilliant so thanks for...
Read moreWe were a table of 3 who visited tonight to celebrate an occasion. We placed our orders, and were asked if we would like our starters to come out first or all food at the same time. We chose to have everything at the same time, this didn't happen starters came first which is no problem but was confused as to why we were given the choice and then it didn't happen. Then our mains came, with 1 dish missing after about 5 minutes a server came over and we asked were the missing dish was we were told it would be coming soon. It didn't arrive until we had finished eating our meal, which also is no problem we were happy to take it away with us along with the food we had left over. We asked our server if we could have it boxed up to take home. To which she kindly said yes. We paid the bill which had a £9 discretionary service charge. Which I was happy to pay. After paying we asked where our food to takeaway was, to then be told it had been put in the bin. This was a whole dish untouched that didn't come to the table until we had eaten our meal and whole rice and half of another dish. I've never received service that was so unattentive to customers needs. We paid for food and it was chucked in the bin and the apology was so flippant. If I had of been told this before I paid the bill I would if never have paid the service charge. I couldn't wait to leave, it ruined the whole atmosphere of our evening
Update. I contacted them like they asked me to in reply to my review. I was ignored again!! I even sent them my bank statement that they asked me to provide. So now they have personal information. Something seems very dishonest about this company. Awful customer service by...
