A locally ran cinema that is affordable. It’s got a small town vibe to it and is fairly nice. The staff are nice, however do not try to bring even a water bottle in, they will not let you bring any kind of snack or beverage in of your own. They search bags with a flashlight (in my opinion, kind of an invasion of privacy, you don’t need to know whats in my bag) but understand the reasoning behind it. They need to make money and their concessions help them stay and keep the lights on with their tickets being as cheap as they are.
The seats are uncomfortable, i will say that. There is no elevation in the theater so whoever is behind you may or may not be blocked by you. There is a table in front of you, which is nice, but since the table sits directly behind a seat, the person in front of you will hear everything you do. I would say it’s resemblance of an auditorium rather than a theater style. I would say they should upgrade the seats at some point for better comfort for guests. It was also freezing in the room so bring a blanket or a hoodie.
The screen was a standard screen, the movie looked and sounded relatively good so no complaints (however the blue glowing lights showing the door exits are a little annoying, breaks immersion from the movie experience). Since the cinema only shows two movies at once, the schedule isn’t 100% accurate. Show up for the time you bought do not come late, it will start when the time says it will. My movie actually started a little later due to the last showing going over the time, which was no problem for me.
4/5 since I had a good time, tickets were cheap, and reminded me of what cinemas were like before monopolies took over the business . If you can support a smaller theater, do so, it helps community and more opportunities for all types of showings you wouldn’t normally get to experience in a high budget to the books corporate style movie theater. However, they should look into upgrading the theaters for consumer quality...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would!!!! My 8 year old autistic son and I went in to watch lion king yesterday. He had a little zip lock bag of his animal crackers with him. Everything was all good, I paid for 2 tickets and we went and sat down. We were the only 2 people in the theater and about 5 minutes before the movie started some teenage looking kid came up to my son and said he was gonna have to confiscate his crackers until the movie was over. There were about 10 little crackers in the bag. (I already bought a popcorn and a water.) I told him about my son and said please if he can keep his crackers. He told me no, that I cant bring any outside food in. I could not believe this!!!!! The movie hasn't even started yet!!! We got up and went to see the manager but she was absolutely the worst!! She was telling me that I broke the rules and telling me what kind of parent sets an example for there kids by sneaking food into a theater. I couldn't believe what was being said. I asked for my refund back since the movie hasn't even started yet. I never got my refund back!!!! This was the first time I had been to the agawam cinemas and it was the last!!! I took my son and his animal crackers to rave cinemas in west Springfield and saw the lion king happily. Agawam cinemas is a joke. I just moved to agawam and I'm a big believer in supporting local businesses but never will I ever support agawam cinemas. You are a joke you...
Read moreI did attempt to send an email to provide information about our latest experience but no response has been received. Unfortunately I feel like every visit has been going more and more downhill. First of all, I just wanted to say that the person working was doing a great job managing everything from checking people in to concessions. However, this was quite a bit for only one person to accomplish. By the time everyone was checked in with tickets and provided their concessions, it was well past the start of the movie time. All of the previews and the beginning of the movie had already played by the time we were allowed into the theater. We assumed that she would be able to restart. After a few minutes of being in the theater we realized it would not be and asked but were informed that she was not able to due to being on a timer. This was a disappointing experience as our son was really looking forward to this movie. We made the best of it but opening weekend of an extremely popular new movie may need more than one person to handle. Again, I do want to say that she did a great job with what she had and kept her cool dealing with everyone's needs. The missing of the movie was the disappointing part. I'm not sure that this theater is going to be our number one choice going forward if it means the possibility of not seeing...
