Was treated rudely by an employee here last week. I came with my mother in the evening to get a few quick things since we were in the area. My mother loves a good deal, so when she found that they were selling chicken at 97 cents per pound, she immediately put a whole bunch in the cart. We looked and tried to see if there was a limit stated per customer and didn't see any such information, so we took our things to the self checkout where a middle-aged female employee SCREAMED at us from across where she was standing and said in a condescending tone, 'UM EXCUSE ME, THERE'S A LIMIT OF 4 CHICKENS PER CUSTOMER!'
Me and my mom were both stunned and embarrassed by the way she yelled at us, everyone could hear that lady yelling. So my mom and I, trying not to make it an even bigger deal than this employee is making it, complied by the terms and only took 4 chickens. As we are scanning our items, the employee comes with a cart and starts angrily taking the chicken from our cart. My mom asks if we can each take 4 chickens and as the lady is hastily loading the chicken, she again, condescendingly screeches at us that it's a 4 item maximum per household. At this point, I don't know why we even continued scanning our items and bought anything because we should've left since we were treated so rudely.
I and my mom both have no problem with following rules but we never saw anything about a maximum item limit or my mom wouldn't have gotten so many chickens. I get retail and service workers are stressed and that people have bad days, but we were not rude and did not disobey the employee, even though she deserved to be treated the same. Her antagonistic behavior was unnecessary and extremely unprofessional. I love how clean the store is and the variety, but this lady single-handedly will be the reason I don't return.
I didn't catch her name, but she was a middle-aged Caucasian lady with really long, straight red hair. She had a rather stocky build, about average height, slightly raspy voice. She was wearing a purple shirt that day and was attending the self checkout area. Didn't get a good look at her face but I think she had clear blue eyes? I'm sure if she ever sees this review, she will remember who we are.
Lady, I hope you don't go about your life with that attitude cuz it's a real nasty, bitter attitude to have. We are all struggling in these times, there's no need to make things harder for each other by being awful. I'm not a Karen and I ain't gonna say I hope you get fired or anything, but you seriously need to reconsider your behavior. I only hope you have it in you to be kind to not just others, but to...
Read moreI've been shopping here since I was a kid. It's where my grandma went to shop for groceries. They have a great variety of food products, as well as smaller sections for things like cleaning products and pet supplies. Sure, it's typical of a lot of other supermarkets, but there's a way that they do it better. It might be because it's a store I grew up with, so I might be a bit biased.
I will say, I think the layout and atmosphere and general look of the store just feels right for what it is. One of the better looking supermarket brands out there. And I'm not just saying that when it comes to this location on its own, but other Raley's stores I've shopped at (also part of the Nob Hill brand). There's just a distinct feel to them I don't get at most other stores. If you took away the name and put me in one of their stores, I would know instantly what store I was in. One of the highlights is the stress free shopping: no separate contained sections or congested, poorly designated aisles like most other stores now.
What am I saying here? It's a great supermarket with a special atmosphere you won't get anywhere else and yes, the food, even store brand, is high quality and always fresh (at least I've never had a problem in this category). The prices have been historically on the high side, but it's no different than your typical Safeway, Lucky, etc. In recent years they have really stepped up their game, and often many, many products throughout the store go on sale. There's always products on sale for great prices. And it can often be cheaper than other stores.
If you're tired of shopping at the other stores, give Nob Hill Foods a chance. You won't regret...
Read moreI really hate to give this store a 1 star because I truly enjoy Nob Hill, but on January 11th 2024 @ around 1:30pm came into the store to purchase food from the food court and after I got my food I went over to the cash register to pay for my food, my food was only $6.27 I gave the cashier $7.00 in cash a $5 bill and two one $1.00 bills well instead of the cashier giving me back 73 cents he handed me 16 cents and I was on my phone but I did noticed it didn’t feel like he handed me quarters but I continued on and left the store I noticed what he handed me after I left and he did not offer me a receipt but I’ll post the picture of the price of what I purchased out of Nob Hill. Next time I’ll check myself out because there’s no way he did not know what he was doing and people like that should not be handling money at all especially for an established business. I am going to let this go because at this point I can not do anything about it because I’ve already left the store but now that I know that this store has cashiers that doesn’t give loyalty customers back their correct change I’ll now be counting before I leave the counter or just use self check out from here on out. P.s Nob Hill please correct me if I’am wrong far as if the cashier charge a different price once the customer pay at the...
