Alamogordo Recreation Center — Local services in Alamogordo

Took my grandkids to the pool for a swim. I'm disappointed in the city website as it lacks required information:

The time of pool opening was wrong. Please note they open at 1:30pm not 1:00. Website has nothing on dress code, but there is one. Nothing on slide operations, it opened at 2:30pm. Nothing on the website about 15 min non swimming for all. Used to be adults could use the 15 min break to use the pool while kids sat out resting? Now only lifeguards swim then. They call it safety break? Refreshment stand was closed, so no where but a vending machine to get something to drink which is in the lobby where you have to be in your street clothes and dry? Only shade area is so far away from the pool you cannot watch your kids properly? They could drape a cover on the wall to provide additional shaded sitting area. I was traveling through and wanted a good cardio workout on elliptical as I have bad knees and can’t run. I thought I’d try a community center instead of my usual chain type gym. I’ve belonged to 24 hour fitness, David Barton, Mercedes Club, Equinox, LA fitness, and have exercised at countless gyms as I travel extensively. The website advertised an elliptical and there were two uncomfortable off brand machines of poor quality. I thought I’d instead lift, but the same can be said about the weight equipment. My public high school 25 years ago in NY had much better equipment. The weight room is not the same as most modern urban gyms, so if you’re use to that this is not for you. The workers here are on a serious power trip. All they do is yell at people and treat everyone like they’re less than. They don’t respect adults and are extremely rude. I’ve never had a good experience with the staff here. Retrain your staff!! I will not be signing my children up here for sports anymore due to the HORRIBLE staff. You work at a gym! It’s NOT...
