I booked online for one night and wanted to book an additional room. I talked with the guy repeatedly over the course of the day about booking in person the additional room and arranged a time to call him back to make the booking. Nowhere on the website and at no time in our conversation was I told there was a "two night minimum", but at some point while I was booking the additional room he pulled that out and told me that he could not make an exception and blamed it all on the online booking. I told him I had already been charged and was surprised he didn't want the business. I was astonished at how unhelpful and rude he was. To me this was a typical tourist"fleece and release". Too bad they thought I was just another tourist, but I'm actually an Alaska local with friends who have lived in Homer for decades. In contrast, recently I had a minor booking fiasco with a winery in California and not only did they bend over backwards to try to fit us in, they also upgraded us to a luxury suite! Now that was customer service and they not only made customers for life but free advertising among friends and family. To me, it was a very wise decision from a customer service perspective- I was so impressed by how much they valued our business and our experience.    Read moreSurprises when we got there:||- extensive mouse traps all over the inside of the lodge, suggest getting a professional exterminator so families won't have to see the traps.||- "I don't want to pay $400.00 a month in cable charges" owners' comment. No TV in any common area for families to watch movies if it rains. Also, apartment downstairs has no TV. The other five rooms had TV however not set up with ROKU or Firestick. We were given some bags of remotes, cables etc. and told to set them up ourselves however only one set up worked. We used seven bedrooms however had ONE TV for six days.||- Needs to be professionally cleaned. Owner told us upon check in, "there is a loft, but we had a group of fishermen here last week and I don't know what it looks like". I had to clean it. Beds were poorly made with wrinkled sheets. floors not cleaned, crumbs on counters with open bread loaf. Windows were VERY dirty with bird poop etc. ||- Water is delivered. Lodge has signs all over that states to conserve water. Should have been in the listing. We had 3,000 gallons for seven bedrooms for six days. We could not enjoy a nice hot shower after fishing or use the jacuzzi tub. ||- Furniture is stained and just well worn. ||- Construction with a backhoe during entire trip||-Refrigerator was dirty, full of open food and some of the food was outdated.||-...
   Read moreTerrible accomodation with unrespectfull and lying hosts. I got 2 months ago a confirmed booking for 5 people. Accomodation is probably double booked, they just cancelled my booking a week before my departure. Hosts are lying that i did credit card fraude and that the creditcard is not valid, just because if they are lying and saing that, they can cancell my booking without having to search a similar accomodation for my group (booking done with booking.com) and they can cancel without costs. Alle proofs are send from the bank and the paiment was even done with my valid creditcard (even when i had to pay only on arrival, but i prefered to have the bill paid before departure). Still they are lying and refunded the money what was already on there account, because it was a proof that the credit card is valid. Never book there, because they will just cancel you because they got probably a double booking. And it will cost you much more to book last minute another accomodation, and this owners just dont care about it. I am a host myself from different accomodation. Its a shame for the sector, that there are hosts working and lying like the flat fish...
