Think Twice Before Buying Big Ticket Items from Home Depot On January 7th, 2025, I purchased a 4400 PSI Dewalt pressure washer from Home Depot in Albany. I used it once for a quick one-hour job in January, then drained and stored it properly for the winter. Fast forward to today, April 28th — I pulled it out, hooked it up, and started it with the nozzle depressed. It fired up… and immediately shut down. When I went to restart it, the pull cord had zero tension — completely dead, no engagement. I contacted the store where I bought it and was told that because it’s past the 90-day return window, I had to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer referred me to a repair facility in Salem, who told me they couldn’t even look at it for two and a half months — and only cover the pump under warranty. The engine? I explained this to the store manager, spent half a day making calls, trying to find a resolution — and got nowhere. Bottom line: I need a working pressure washer this week, and now I’m forced to buy a new one because there’s no timely support for a unit that was barely used. Here’s the hard lesson: Do NOT buy expensive tools or equipment from Home Depot. If something goes wrong, you're on your own. They’ll deflect to the manufacturer, who in turn points to under-resourced third-party service centers. Meanwhile, you’re stuck with a costly piece of equipment you can’t use and no practical solution in sight. Support your local dealers. They can service what they sell and actually stand behind the products. Home Depot? They just sell it and walk away. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I will not buy from Lowes, because their customer service sucks! One hot late Friday afternoon, a few weeks ago, I think her name was Peyton, helped me twice load 100 pcs of hardie plank fiber cement lap siding. I’ve always had plenty of help at this Home Depot, and will eventually have my entire house remodeled from Home Depot. Prices, and selection and availability are great on most anything I need, very impressed with the Lifeproof flooring, and plan to buy it for the rest of my house

This store could use an overhaul on organizing. Bought a planter, clearly on the planter it is marked at $12.98. The shelf price and what it rang up as was $13.98. I didn't think it was allowed to charge more than what the item was marked. I understand everything is going up, but this wasn't right. The customer service is a hit or miss. For the most part everyone is great. Trying to find things NOT so great at times. You can usually find what you need somewhere else cheaper!

Matt she was wrong.. the debit card in my pocket is the card used to purchase the power washer gun which really upsets me even more. Why did she say yes when I asked if 804 something whatever number on the receipt was my number on my card?! I asked her does that matter if it's not the same card she said we'll see and hands me in store credit . I had the damn card laying out she could have looked or found out. I am in home Depot sometimes three times a day buying materials for almost 300 apartment units being built overall the company has over 2,000 units I assist in managing the construction and making purchases to receiving deliveries taking care of contractors doing contractor work that I can take care of quicker. lately I have purchased 3 power washer guns . Two on the company card the second purchase after first was faulty was same DeWalt power washer gun but I paid for it. an employee. With company card bought a third one from online, a different brand top gun it's good for like over 5,000 PSI our power washer is 3500. Today I wanted my money back I don't know how many of you like to pay the company you work for? I walked up to a heavy year dark haired lady maybe early forties kind of reminded me of the daughter on that Detroit pawn shop show. She walked up to me and the first thing she said was when did you purchase it? I said well I have the receipt online it should be on there I handed her my phone she set it down in front of her. I was explaining why the one was bad and she said "I'm doing something" at the time I think I was just really I don't want to say hurt but confused as to what was happening. She said do you have the debit card, in my head I'm think i don't know if it is , I lost my debit card and received a replacement. I said is it the the 804 whatever number on there ( the receipt) there's a number on the receipt with AID I thought maybe that's like whatever ID like my card ID. I don't memorize my cards but I did know my last card had 8 and 4 and I pulled out my debit card I had replaced around the same time I made the purchase I looked at my new card it definitely was that not that number. I couldn't think about that at the time because I really felt like she was treating me like a thief I know how this goes I wanted cash, then you must be a thief if you want cash, or maybe it shouldn't matter I have the reciept id I even had the debit card, she never asked me if I wanted in store credit I did not want in store credit I didn't have a chance to think about the hey maybe I do have the card I was so flustered by the way I was being treated and handed a in-store credit card slapped down in front of me with a receipt and no thank you no hello when I walked up no nothing she was just looks like she was a very unhappy person maybe her feet hurt she told me she was management her management told me she was not I called another store in Salem they said she was wrong that she was obviously having a bad day and that they would get it fixed for me if I wanted. At this point I want it more than ever because of the fact I want it I at the time I told him I'm not going to come to your store to do that I really just want to know if I was treated wrong per policy I looked the policy up I feel it says if it's purchased with a credit card it goes on a in-store credit if it's purchased with debit or cash you can get cash back. I don't understand why having the receipt having my ID that's same name on the card that purchased it that they can look up in their system you know most places don't even need the debit card so how's that work if you lose a card? You never get your money back or does it go to your bank like it should have mine?! I didn't think it would be a big deal asking for cash back and I definitely didn't expect her to be so rude to shush me before I could even finish three words not answer my questions. To look at me like I'm a thief trying to scam her. I probably spent as much time in home Depot as she has. Lots of time in Corvallis Salem Albany .... shout out...

Update: I wrote the CEO of Home Depot to let him know what's going on. A kind lady got ahold of me and apologized and completely made it right. She was a great help and so kind! I might not go back to this home depot in Albany, however the Home Depot as a whole is an awesome company and they are quick to make things right.

My experience..... I normally don't do bad reviews, but I am always honest. This is my experience.

We were looking for a washer & dryer. We found one. It was a hassle to get it to the date before July for delivery. But the nice lady did it! Everything was set. Said June 10th. Everything was a go. Didn't think anything of it.

I checked out the date to make sure it's still set to that and I remembered it correctly and what do ya know, July 13th. The MINUTE we hit accept it changed it out. Never told us it was on back order. Okay, not home depots issues. But I will say no longer trust the dates.

Told they can get us another, it wad a downgrade but it was going to work. Great, I'll settle. But then the can't swap it over have to refund the money. Alright. 3 to 4 days no big deal. I'm trying to be positive and kind. I get it, things happen. Got the cancelation everything looked up and up.

Waited a few days. Nothing. So I contact my card they said they don't have any mentions of a refund, to talk to home depot. Okay, talk to home depot they said I have to physically come in and manually get the refund. Great! Again into home depot 3 towns away. Lovely. So.... we go in.

Takes for ever to get a refund, but finally the refund went through. They wouldn't give us cash back. Not sure why. They were willing to either mail a check or put it back on the card. I chose the card because I trusted it more.

Now we're out a washer and dryer. The money for a bit. The fuel to go 3 towns over 2 more times, the wear and tear on my vehicle and a whole lot of stress. This has been a headache, an annoyance, and just a very big inconvenience.

When we asked if we could get a gift certificate for the stress and hassle of what we just went through we were told they can't do that. However; we did get a discount on the next purchase. Whoowhoo. Big corperation like home depot couldn't make things right and made us walk away still stressed and frustrated.

So well get the refund, because I asked about why we haven't gotten it. Had I not asked, we could've gone longer. No one mentioned it to us.

The new washer and dryer wasn't in stock even though it said it could be delivered the next week.

And no compensation for our troubles. Watch yourself yall. If you wanna buy, make sure it's there physically! Don't trust delivery dates and don't trust the refund policy unless you have a home depot card or like a...

I went to buy paint. I had to look for help. The lady who help me gave the impression she didn't want to be there. This is not a big deal normally. I know people have bad days. BUT, I bought my paint and went to my vehicle, open my trunk and set the paint in my car. One of the cans was on a slight ridge and slanted slightly. My daughter, yelled, "The lid is off. It's spilling!" I quickly grabbed the can and set it outside the car. It was apparent that the lid was not sealed after the paint was mixed. It had to have just been set on top of the gallon of paint. So, I went back into the store to see if I could get someone to help me get the wet paint out of my trunk. I went to customer service and told a young man what had happened. He looked kind of dumbfounded and I said, " I need something to get the paint out of my trunk". He said, " There is paint thinner on aisle..." I looked at him like he was crazy and asked, "Are you serious?" He then sprung into action and took me to the paint section to get some paper towels and trash bags and then went with me to my car to try to clean the mess. We did a fairly good job. A cooler bag I keep in the trunk received most of the damage. The Home Depot man started to put the spilt can of paint back into my car and I told him I'd like another call of paint. He said, " Oh, okay. We can do that" and we walked back into the store. We went to the paint section. Where this young man told the lady who mixed my paint what had happened. She said, " Well, that's not my problem. Call management" the man told her he had already "helped" me and I need another can of paint. She said okay. He then walked up to me and asked me if I want my cooler bag back (he put it in a plastic bag when we were by my car). I looked at him puzzled and he said, " You can take it home and try to get the paint off of it". I said, "No. The paint is not coming off of it. I will buy another bag" he then tooj the bag and threw it away. So I was left waiting for the "lady" to finish mixing my paint. When she was done she grabbed a m Mallot and very dramatically pounded the lid on the paint. I then left Home Depot. Home Depot is not a place you want to go if you need any kind of...
