Bricks and Minifigs Algonquin — Local services in Algonquin

My first impression was decent but I left with a foul taste. So I'd say 3 of 5 stars. They have a decent amount of minifugres for a very small store. The vintage sets most had no manual and "certified" were incredibly overpriced. At least 2x to 3x current ebay rates. Id rather buy brick and mortar but its not close to current market value. They had a large amount of bulk to sift through but alot of it looked like c grade heavily worn. Id need several hours to go through it all and didn't have the time. The owners dad was very kind and greeted everyone. I feel their buy rates and trade rates are the lowest in the industry and need to be boosted. The kid behind the counter found a bunch of specialty pieces for me and quoted me .05 to .50 each. So I bought a bunch and and some low end pirates and knights. The total seemed high to me. When I checked the receipt there were 20 pieces that he quoted me .25 a piece but charged me .75 a piece for. That's a ten dollar loss. He didn't warn me or tell me, so finding out post payment isn't great. Feels shady. I asked him about this and he said they are what they are mini fig accessories..... so why did he quote me differently, not honor his quote and then stiff me quietly. Very bad busines practice imo and I'm not so happy now. I have the receipt and a picture of this, but google isn't...

Such a cool place! We had a 4th birthday here and it was such a great option. Julie was so easy to work with to arrange the day, and Todd was incredibly helpful the day of.

Their party set up is flexible, so with Todd’s help we decided last minute to let the kids “free build” with legos instead of doing more structured activities. Older kids would love building and crashing cars though!

On top of everything, it was by far the more affordable option we could find for a birthday party. And all our guests loved browsing and shopping after the party.
