I so badly wanted to like this place. My wife wanted seafood, and knowing there really aren't many seafood joints in this area, we decided to give this a try. We'd never been here before. Drove past it many times, but never dined here. We visited on a Friday, about 5p. The outdoor seating was open. Really nice setting, along the Fox river. We were seated right away, and ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down. Our server was very nice, attentive and friendly. So far so good! My wife ordered the scallops with their brussel sprouts as a side, and I tried the blackened grouper with a baked potato. Bread service came out with our salads. Bread was very nice, fresh, crusty, served with whipped butter and a crab/butter spread. Salads were just what I wanted. Fresh, dressings were nice. We ordered a few bar drinks - I had a classic margarita and my wife had Sex with the Captain (I said I was going to watch!). Drinks were just ok. Personally I think too heavy a pour on the alcohol, and were just average. Food came out about 20 minutes after ordering. My wife took one look at her scallops and looked at me - obvious they were frozen, and weren't cooked very well. Since they were frozen, it seemed like they also weren't prepped properly, by leaving the abductor muscle attached to 2 of them. They also had this brownish tan hue, like what frozen cooked scallops look like. If the pan they were cooked in was hotter and they were cooked longer, that might have helped. There was no sear on either side. Her brussel sprouts (steamed??) were awful. The texture seemed like these were par cooked slightly, and warmed up for service. They were inedible. Guys - take the par cooked sprouts and put them in the fryer to crisp them up. Serve with some pickled shallots, and a spicy aioli, and maybe some pistachios (you're welcome).
My blackened grouper was overcooked. The flavor was good, but just clearly way overcooked. This is a seafood place, like wth?? The baked potato was good. It was afterall.. a baked potato.
Our server April was very nice and saw my wife wasn't liking what she ordered. They offered to replace it, and were very nice about it. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen? The manager then came over to check on us - she was also very concerned and wanted to make everything right. Regardless, they took it off the bill. We really didn't want to be 'those people', and asked to not do anything. In the end, my wife had some french fries.
Overall, I'd give Port Edwards a C. Service gets an A, but I'm sorry, the kitchen gets a D (this time).
I do want to give them another chance, like I said earlier, I really wanted to...
Read moreHi all! I would like to leave a review. On July 6, for my birthday, my friends and I went to this restaurant. The first thing I want to say is that there are no reservations at the restaurant. We arrived earlier at 4.00 and asked the girl that we needed to get there at 6.00 in the evening. At the entrance the young girl was very pleasant and polite. She put us on the waiting list. She said okay, we are waiting for you at 6.00. When we arrived, this girl was no longer there. There was a woman with blond hair who said we need to wait. We said ok. Later they called us and said we could come. There were 13 of us in total. But since we weren’t there at the time of the call, they didn’t let us all in. The blonde girl was an adult and was not polite! And then a man came up to us and said that we still needed to wait until the tables were cleared and prepared for us. Thanks to this man for being polite. We waited quite a bit. It was hot outside and I noticed that no one was offered water who was waiting, I consider this a minus. But this turned out to be not such a disadvantage that was waiting for us..... We went to the table thanks to the man, he seated 10 of us and the remaining 3 people came a little later. They supplied us with water. We ordered drinks and epitizers. The epitizers were delicious. But when we ordered and the main dishes were brought to us....I was upset! I felt very uncomfortable in front of the guests. Such a restaurant and there are always so many people there. BUT THE MAIN FOOD WAS NOT TASTY. THE PASTA WAS MORE LESS. THE CHILD HAD A SANDWICH WITH BURNED CHICKEN. THE FISH THAT MY HUSBAND ORDERED WAS ALL RAW🤦🏻♀️ THE MAIN COURSES JUST NOT COOKED TASTY!!! In addition to this, the dishes are not washed well! We paid $890 but didn't enjoy the main courses. We also waited a long time while they prepared it. My friends and I were in this restaurant for the first time and the last time! We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone! I would like to wish the staff to be more polite, especially the older blonde woman! Chefs need to learn how to cook main dishes tastier. I give this restaurant one star! I can only say thank you to the girl who worked at the entrance at 4.00 and the man who sat us at the table! And the tables should be washed better and not left food residues.... Unfortunately, we had a sad experience in this...
Read moreWe were a group of 10 with reservations for the Easter brunch. When we arrived for what I believe was the second seating, the parking lot was nearly deadlocked with guests wanting to park. Unfortunately, the number of cars greatly outnumbered the number of spaces, and we ended up parking in the pay lot across the street. Likewise, the entrance vestibule to the restaurant was so crowded with patrons waiting to be seated that you had to squeeze through to get to the check-in desk. The desk attendant told us that they were running about 20 minutes late, which ended up being fairly accurate. When our table was ready, we took what seemed like an incredibly long walk to it--it's surprising how large the restaurant is inside compared to what it looks like outside. Our table was in a large back room with a bar, and our server was with us almost immediately. The Easter brunch included both traditional and fancier breakfast options, both hot and cold seafood options, sliced ham, turkey, and beef, and a few tables of mixed dessert options, all of which was presented buffet style. The brunch also included champagne, and the server had our glasses filled before we had even finished seating the group and made sure that the glasses were refilled continuously. The food itself was quite good. I did not visit the breakfast area myself, but members of my group had made to order omelets, eggs Benedict. Belgian waffles with various toppings, and the egg, meat, and potato offerings . The cold salads were tasty and varied. The seafood area had peel and eat shrimp, breaded fried shrimp, crab cakes, Cajun tilapia, a 3 foot wide pan of paella with steamed mussels in shells, whole baby octopus, and prawns being added continuously and other selections. There was sliced to order prime rib, ham, and turkey with vegetable sides. There was a table with a variety of bagles, cream cheeses, and smoked salmon. There were several tables of assorted cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cheesecake, and a chocolate fountain. No one left hungry, and I believe everyone got their $68 worth of food. There was a mandatory 20% gratuity added, which seemed high for serve-yourself, but the staff was very attentive with drink refills and clearing of used dishes. The interior is attractive but not over the top fancy, although it is fairly surprising to see an entire boat floating in a lagoon inside...
