Unfortunately, my mother and I had a bad experience in the fitting room area. There was an elderly woman with short hair who yelled at my mother for looking at clothes that was on a hanger nearby. She was incredibly rude when she could have just asked politely to not touch the rack. My mother had put the clothing back where she found it in the rack and the woman came over and angrily put it in a different area than where it was pulled out from, but we didn't say anything. After using the fitting room my mother and I went to return the unwanted clothing to the appropriate rack and the number card to the same woman. When my mother was hanging up clothing on the Go-Back rack the woman said "You aren't going to take any of these?" to which my mother responded with a no thank you. The woman then cursed at my mother and yanked the clothing off the Go-Back rack and the number card out of my mothers hand. I have had many retail jobs including those in the clothing industry and I understand having a bad day, but acting like this when there was no aggression whatsoever from the customer was completely unwarranted. My mother was very kind and tried to put things back to make it easier for this woman but the woman still took out whatever anger she had on my mother. I was so shocked I asked for the woman's name at the front to which I was not given her name, so I can only describe her as an elderly woman with short dark hair. Although management was kind and told me they would speak with the employee regarding the incident, I have never experienced this kind of hostility from a store employee and it was especially disturbing seeing my mother be...
Read moreLove the variety, but the slow checkout kills meâdoesnât seem to matter the time of day or day of the week, you are guaranteed to spend more time checking out then shopping at this location. But donât worry, theyâve lined the entire waiting lane with impulse buys on both sides, so you and your childrenâor you and your line-neighborsâ children are bombarded with âMOMMY, mommy!! Buy me this!! Oooh look at that!!! Can we buy that?!? We need a taupe metallic snake-printed âEmber of Pineâ scented candle, itâs only $8.99!?!? Please Mom, PLEEEEEASE?!?â for 20 minutes straight while youâre waiting for a register. I actually came in, found a pair of shoes in three minutes and got in line to payâjust to wait 5 minutes, move forward 2 spaces, and realize I would have to bail from the line at the rate it was moving or Iâd be late to pick up my kids from school...so I left the shoes under a nearby chair on display, and went and got my kids. Then I had the joy of dragging two elementary school kids into the store to go find my hidden shoes and successfully purchase them. By the time I got through the checkout line, lined with impulse buys mind you, we had our arms full and I had women offering to give me their cart! Additionally, there was a woman in front of us who was so distracted with all the shiny objects on both sides, she kept running her cart into the elderly woman in front of her, and alternately abandoning her cart in the line and walking 20 feet back through the lane of customers and carts to check out the impulse buys she thinks she missed out on...
Read moreThis isn't about the service as much as it is about the company having their employees ask several times if I want to donate to any organization. First, not through you, TJ. I don't know enough about those "nonprofits" and how much of the donation goes to actually help (in this case, autism) whatever people need it. Second, to ask customers if they want to pay more to help someone is low key manipulative and shouldn't even be allowed. People feel compelled to do it in many cases while not sure who gets it and why. Last, TJ Maxx gets the credit for the accrued donations so it looks good on them as a company for donating when in actuality all they did was ask the customer to pay more. Last, I paid in cash and after all the questions about donating, the lady tried to keep my change. Normally, I wouldn't care about 6 cents, but the fact that this company just tried to get more money out of me then that happened left a bad taste in my mouth.
Just stop asking people to donate to causes. As if customers behind them should wait longer just in case the customer actually wants to make an informed decision on who he or she is actually donating to and...
