I think Wegmans has the best produce out of all the markets around me...Times are very hard right now to keep the shelves stocked, but they do a pretty good job, if you don't see something you need, come back a day or two later & they usually are stocked back up...love their deli, you can either buy pre-sliced or wait to get freshly sliced meats & cheeses. Their bakery is wonderful! Many varieties of breads, rolls, bagels, doughnuts, etc... Excellent cheese section...I usually go early in the morning and it's not so crowded...UPDATE: Still a great market...very fresh produce🍓🍇🥦🌽, made ahead meals, great seafood 🦞 dept, fresh made sushi🍣, great bakery w/ wonderful breads 🍞, great deli & I can go on & on!!! UPDATE: Still the same. The freshest produce, best in store bakery, etc...all the things I wrote before...🍓🍍🍇🍎🫐🥦🥕🫛🍞🍕🍤🍱🍰🍩🍾, etc... UPDATE: Still the same... It is my favorite grocery store...love their produce & bakery...sushi is good also... picture I posted is the fresh shipment of mums for a fall. Read moreThe customer service is terrific - always friendly and at least one or two humans on check-out even in the later evening. Lots of gluten free options through out store, even a few in the fresh bakery. They phrase it " no gluten ingredients" because of potential cross contamination. Their to go food section has a hot bar with" no gluten ingredient" Chinese food and terrific garlic wings. The only problem is, later in the day, these items might be dried out and icky. Their sushi is also " no gluten ingredients",( which is hard to find despite people only needing to switch to GF tamari or soy sauce.) The hot bar is also expensive, so watch your portions. They ought to have a scale. You could end up paying $15 - 20 or more, so think before you load up on fried rice. Be aware that if you don't take your own shopping bags, you will pay a small charge for a thin paper bag or about $1 or so for a reusable one. While Wegmans specialty items may come at a premium, overall their prices are about average when buying every day pantry things. The choice is outstanding and the chances of getting something past it's prime in any section is very unlikely. Best place to go for produce and cheese short of a farmers market. The deli is very good and has pre-made items like whitefish salad and liver and onions, but this is an area to watch expiration dates. They also have a large alcohol section and a neat kitchen section as well as fresh flowers. Great for gifts when you are already going somewhere. If you are having a special occasion and want to serve, (but not cook), lobster or other seafood, ask their seafood dept., in advance. Lastly, their health food section has an entire aisle of protein bars and lots of hard...
Read moreThe following is becoming typical of my experiences at the Allentown Wegmans.
Items are out for weeks. Items that are ordinary, we aren't even talking extraordinary stuff. The pharmacy included. I have to expect to drop off my prescription and wait for up to a week for inventory to fill it. It was explained to me that corporate does all the ordering (does not include the pharmacy). Whatever the computer says the store gets, with no regard as to what the demographic needs are for the area.
Once you discover a new product is usually is discontinued the next week.
It took 6 weeks to resolved a bounced check issue, despite the fact that I was proactive and went to the customer service the moment I discovered the issue. I could not write checks during that six weeks.
Today I got a cashier that failed to put 2 bags into the cart (she managed to put the rest in, but for some reason only known to God she kept two out). While making dinner I discovered a missing ingredient and had to drive back to the store for it. The service desk had the bags but only gave me one bag. Upon getting home and continuing the meal I discovered another missing ingredient. My son had put the groceries away, had I done it myself I would have noticed all the missing items. I called the service desk about the rest of the items and they said they were sitting at the service desk. I asked why they hadn't given me the entire portion of the order when I came in the first time. No explanation was given.
The young high school cashiers seem to be on the ball, avoid any of the cashiers older than...
