Stillwell Spa — Local services in Alta

Went here with my daughter for a special spa day. Both got 2 hour massages. My massage with Michael (female) was terrible. I am usually too nice to complain but after 30 min in I started questioning what she was doing. I was there for a Swedish massage and she was using a pressure point technique with barely even any pressure. I had to ask her three times to stop what she as doing and give me a Swedish style massage. She asked if I wanted my feet massaged and I said yes did she barely massaged them (I have manicured feet no calluses) I think she does not like feet. I added on hot oil scalp treatment and she put it on with the lightest touch to the point it was annoying. At one point I thought she fell asleep when she was massaging my neck. She missed one of my legs when she turned me over to face up. I was so tired of complaining and directing her that I just let that one go. So while the tourist spot is Snowbird and the cliff spa, this Gem in Alta is the Best SPA experience I had! I treated myself for my birthday to this place and the manager here made sure I got in right away. The staff is very nice and friendly. The facility is really clean, the pool and hot tub were well maintained. The grotto was lovely. The steam room wasn't working but the sauna was and that was nice. Also the room to rest and relax was perfect. This is a place you go for an intimate experience. It was worth every penny. The next 2 days I went to the cliff spa and although I loved the cliff spa, the stillwell spa was night and day different. It was more luxury, less touristy, it felt like a spa. My massage and body exfoliation was amazing!!! My massage therapist was great and super nice.

I went with my friends and one of my friends had a horrible manicure experience. My friend is too nice to make a big deal out of anything, but the manicure lady said her gel lamp was broken so she could only do a normal manicure and used a bright blue base coat. I will include a picture, because it was the worst manicure I’ve ever seen.

Along with this, when paying for the charges at the end there were a ton of extra fees that were not explained and we had to tell them to remove them. Overcharging on services we didn’t even do.

I think this spa should just do facials and massages and cut out the nails. I’m giving it 3 stars because I had a great massage and don’t want to discount that, but the fact we paid for that manicure...
