As a 38 year veteran truck driver and an individual whose family ran a chain of Bar B Que restaurants for 40 years, I know better than the average consumer when I'm being ripped off and fed scraps that a restaurant either usually doesn't sell or dishes out sparingly in hopes that no one will notice.
Today, 03/18/2025, like I've done innumerable times before, I bought a full rack of ribs from Mitch's Bar B Que because they usually have some of the absolute best, most well-cooked, biggest, juiciest ribs that you can get on I40.
However, today, instead of the normal guys preparing my order they had some young girl who had here eyelashes shaved off and painted back on who was clearly handling food differently than the professionals and who was clearly going far out of her way to wait until I wasn't looking to prepare my order.
Once I got down the road, I discovered that what I had been sold was not the big, juicy, miraculous ribs that Mitch's is known for but a box of scraps and tiny end pieces that most restaurants don't sell.
Now exactly what this young woman and her other little girlfriend are doing with the food that Mitch's usually sells at several of their locations, I don't know. But what I can tell you is that whatever underhandedness is going on at this place needs to be looked into before they put this place out of business; which no idiot can possibly believe is going to happen until does.
I also noticed that the plastic cups of ice that I've been paying $0.99 for right up to just last month, have now been marked up to $2.99, which is a 66% increase, so this is clearly a management problem.
Like anyone, I totally despise getting ripped off, especially when people are losing their jobs all over the place.
Whoever is managing this gluttonous cashcow is steering it toward a huge decline in sales and possibly a boycott induced bankruptcy once people actually figure out what going on, like they did at Krogers and several other ripoff...
Read moreThis is a great stop if you are driving through Amarillo, TX. The gas station, the convenience store inside and the option of eating from Wendy’s or Mitch’s Texas Style BBQ makes this a great rest stop. The restrooms are spacious and clean. The store has a wide variety of snacks, souvenirs, gifts and merchandise. We had lunch at Mitch’s. Their brisket and Turkey sandwiches are cooked perfectly. And their bread pudding is amazing. There’s plenty of seating for customers who need to eat or rest. I appreciated the lay out and feel of this travel center. So often when you’re out on the road there are limitations in terms of convenience stores or rest stops attached to gas stations. Toot’n Totum is a unique travel center in that it offers a lot of options in one place and it’s very clean. Thank you for...
Read moreGreat stop for families. Outdoor shaded picnic patio with PLAYGROUND and fenced DOG PARK with brand new turf!!
Mitch’s BBQ is divine and picky kiddo was happy to have Wendy’s nugget meal from next counter. Hubs works nearby, they come here a few times a week and order in catering from Mitch’s for group lunches. When it’s just us though, we get “The Mitch” for a taste of everything, and it’s plenty for two of us. Can’t beat the price either.
The store is huge and gorgeous, electronic soda fountains threw me but they’re actually easy to use and fun to add flavors. It’s immaculate and staff have been friendly.
I wouldn’t normally take the time to review a local gas station but I wanted to share with my fellow road warriors traveling with a family. This...
