The Mermaid's Tale — Local services in Amherst

I gave this place a 1 star do to not being able to put no stars. When I tell you the environment there was so UNCOMFORTABLE, I mean... from when I walked in I was treated and followed like I was a thief. Mind you I was with my caucasian friend, and no one had their eyes on her. I am a Hispanic young woman and I was dressed fairly comfortable due to my friend springing a brunch date at Arabica and after a walk in down town. We walked to a few other boutiques and we were treated awesome. Had the employees laughing and conversating with them. Not only was I asked for I.D to pay for the items i ended up purchasing, they also handed me the bag right at the door. The ladies also were all huddled up, some behind the counter and others right by me while I was there cashing out to see if I was going to grab an item. I will not visit there again. I am a Brighton fan and enjoy their unique items. Since moving from Maryland back to Ohio, I was having trouble finding their store in the malls around here. I was able to find a few boutiques that carry Brighton products. I discovered “The Mermaid’s Tale” from a friend who worked at a boutique I use to shop at. I called the store and asked if they had 2 items I was looking for and immediately I was helped. They had one item I wanted and was able to locate the other item for me. I couldn’t find these items online so it was so amazing that they are sending me both items I couldn’t find anywhere else. I will definitely be shopping at “The Mermaid’s Tale” even if it is on the phone. I do hope to shop there in person when I get a chance to drive there but I am grateful for the friendliness and...

I’ve shopped at Mermaid’s Tale for many years, and it’s always a pleasant experience. Everyone is very professional, helpful, and always provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It is a lovely small-town neighborhood boutique in Amherst, Ohio, with Judy’s (the owner's) own unique touch on everything you see. Great place for that gift you need for very special people in your life, including yourself :) Today, I went in for a few things. I walked out two hours later (ha ha!) with a very nice selection of desperately needed pants for the fall and winter months, a watch that I specifically was looking for, a few gifts, and a new raincoat for the upcoming fall rainy days.
