This was our first visit to Olde Town Pizza House. I wasn't impressed but it might just be that we didn't pick the right pizza.
The folks working here were friendly. The hostess was very nice. While we had to wait 10 minutes for a table (not bad for a Friday evening) we noticed that people were waiting awhile for someone to come and take their order. Once seated, we didn't have to wait nearly that long.
For those seeking a beer, their options were fair. Be sure to look at the chalk board, though, because they do not have beer menus at the tables.
We did order breadsticks. These were encouraging. They were large and were fluffy. Served with a side of delicious sauce, overall these were light and fluffy and were easy to tear apart for dipping. I enjoyed these although they could have had a bit more salted garlic butter.
We ordered a Deluxe Za specialty pizza. We ordered it with a deep dish crust. This pizza was generously topped with all the pizza toppings anyone could want including cheese. There could have been more of that delicious sauce, though. I think our mistake was ordering the deep dish. This is very hearty crust. It is too much and takes away from the rest of the pie. For me, this crust is alright but tasted more like Italian bread than pizza crust.
We will give Olde Town another try. I saw the pizzas that others had ordered and a more basic pizza appeared to be the way to go (golden baked, bubbly, with the right amount of sauce). The rest of the menu appeared to be worth exploring, too. So, while I couldn't give a high rating this time, perhaps I will in the future.
Also, it is worth noting that other reviews about dusty/dirty lights above the tables are still persistent. There were lots of annoying little bugs, too, which diminished our casual Friday...
Read moreThis is one of the very BEST family owned business. The food is always SO FRESH and TASTY!! I have no clue why the salad taste fresher, crisper than any other restaurant that I have ever been to. I can visit and just have the salad bar and it’s so good I feel like I’m cheating. The one thing I can say that I did miss the ham pieces they used to have as part of the salad bar. They call their sandwiches “sangwich” on purpose. It’s because it’s special not just a bread, I haven’t had it in awhile so ask them. They are known for their great pizza and “Woogie Bear”. It’s lIke a calzone done a’la Olde Town McCarty way! I’ve been visiting this place for over 21 years. We take suppliers from out of town. They always say “I want to go to that quaint pizza shop for a “Woogie Bear”! Oh and you can stuff them with different ingredients. My husband had a meatball mozzarella stuffed one. He loved it!
Even more special are that the owners, their children and employees are all so professional, humble and truly care about their customers. Today Daryl (owner) came right up to me to say hello and walk over to my husband to say hi. The wife (owner) is so kind and both are very dedicated hard workers.
They went through construction years ago to make their space bigger and more comfortable. The decorations and color scheme are very nice. I think they’re close to 30 years of business or more.
The building outside is very cute. They had life size cutouts of McCarty husband and wife sitting on the roof. I didn’t look to see if it’s still there. They’re across the street from Huntington Bank on the main road.
Good luck McCarty and...
Read moreWe just left the Olde Town Pizza House, their were eight in our party. We ordered a Woogie Bear and a thin crust pizza. The Woogie Bear and salad bar were great. The pizza took a very long time. One person asked about the pizza. The server said she would bring it out when it was done in a tone that was a little snippy. We noticed the attitude. The pizza came and it was very doughy. The owner said he would cook it some more. The crust was not thin, but the owner said it was thin. When he brought the pizza back, the crust was still doughy. I politely said that we did not want the pizza. I made the point to tell the owner that the Woogie Bear and salad bar were great. We were there a very long time waiting for the food. We did talk and laugh and had a good time after we had eaten. I was watching to make sure that our table was not needed. There was plenty of empty tables. When we left and were in the parking lot, the owner came out and told us not to come back. He said we stayed to long, did not tip good ( remember service was not good), he said we were rude( the server and owner were rude). I believe he was upset because, we sent the doughy pizza back. We were not rude, we tipped good for bad service. Why go somewhere to eat that gives you more attitude...
