PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU THINK ABOUT SHOPPING HERE: I'm warning everyone to STAY AWAY from this store, as I want to share my recent experience a month ago w/ a checker named JORDAN. Not sure how he even got hired at a store and for a position that requires good customer service skills and a friendly demeanor as he rings up customers. I have been shopping at this store for 30+ yrs, and always have been told if there is NO ONE IN LINE in the Express lane (and if I have more than 15+ items), that I can check out in that lane. As I pulled my cart up to unload about 30 items (mostly small cat food cans), JORDAN was talking up a storm w/ the checker next to him (she had a line full of customers), and since he didn't, he felt he could leave his lane to bother her. When he returned to his lane and saw all 30 or so of my items that I had completely unloaded on to the belt, he told me (w/out even greeting me with a "hello"), "you need to take everything off (the belt) and move to another check stand since you have more than 15 items!" I was stunned by his very rude comment and replied back him, "I am not moving to another lane! Who is the store manager?" He replied, "Doyle, but he's at lunch right now." Obviously, he knew I was serious about complaining, and needless to say, he proceeded to check me out, but there was no communication whatsoever after that. As soon as I pushed my cart just outside the door while leaving, I called the store number at the top of my receipt and Jennifer answered, who is one of the managers. She knows who I am, and I explained the incident to her, and she was very apologetic, and assured me she would talk to Doyle to update him, and have him call me when he returned from lunch. About 45 min's later, I rec'd. a call from Doyle, who had already spoken to JORDAN. He said he told JORDAN that since he's paid hourly, it doesn't matter whether he's ringing up 15+ items or 15 items or less - he gets paid hourly. I hope Doyle warned him that it better not happen again or he will be FIRED. I returned to the store about 1 week later and checked out in Jennifer's lane, and I kept telling her how I would NEVER get in JORDAN's lane again, and how RUDE he is to customers. Well -- since then (for the past 3 weeks), I discovered a BEAUTIFULLY REMODELED, EXTREMELY FRIENDLY Stater Bros. location at 18527 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886. Oh my, was I impressed! The store manager has his employees greeting customers, the baggers who also help out by sweeping the lanes, ask if you need any help finding anything (yesterday, w/in 3-4 min's, 2 friendly guys in diff. aisles asked me this.) This hasn't happened to me in YEARS! One of them actually said they can "get fired" if they don't ask and interact w/ customers, b'cuz they are emphasizing customer service! I love this! Even Dillon, who used to work at this "RUDE" store at 1741 Kellogg Dr, Anaheim, CA 92807 now works at the "FRIENDLY" store at 18527 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886 (I'm sure it wasn't because of a pay raise; but rather, he transferred to get out of this "RUDE" store b'cuz he got tired of everyone's attitudes.) And a bagger at this "RUDE" store told me JORDAN is RUDE to everyone at that store (not just to me). And the produce manager at this same "RUDE" store, who I ran into recently, told me when he is short-staffed in his dept, he does "draws" and he doesn't pick JORDAN! He also told me he’s never heard of someone telling a customer what Jordan told me in his 18 years working at the store! The store on Yorba Linda Blvd. has extremely friendly and helpful employees; is BEAUTIFULLY remodeled w/ a nice wood vinyl flooring, has a very impressive produce dept., w/ baskets holding the fruits / veggies, and the HUGE selection and variety reminds me of Pavilion's (but w/out the same high prices!) LOVE this store! PLEASE! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and DON'T SHOP at 1741 Kellogg Dr, Anaheim, CA 92807! And NOTE TO DOYLE: Do yourself, your store, and your customers a FAVOR and FIRE JORDAN! You’re losing valued customers w/...
Read moreThis store is alright, except some of the cashiers can be particularly rude. I’ve lived near this Staters for most of my life and always come here. Each and every time, I make sure to avoid Maddie’s check out line. She is rude and always has such an attitude. A few of my household members have expressed to me the bad experiences they’ve also had with her.
I recently caught her staring at me and looking me up and down with a disgusted face while I was paying for my groceries. When I looked up from the card reader, noticed, and smiled, she just scoffed and continued to stare me down without a word. She never greets any customer who comes in her line, much less offers a kind farewell at the end of the transaction. I understand not wanting or needing to smile during every interaction, but don’t put on such a mean face and at least be kind.
The only time I’ve ever seen her smile is when she’s yelling across the checkout counters at other employees. I’ve noticed she focuses more on flirting and having loud, inappropriate conversations with her coworkers than customer service.
My mother also has experienced the same thing from Maddie and mostly avoids this location because of her unwelcoming attitude. I finished shopping once and had maybe 3-5 items. When I saw she was working the Express Checkout, I waited in the longer line where most customers were purchasing a cart full of items despite the fact that her line was completely empty. Yes, that was my decision, but no customer should have to dread an interaction with a...
