I grew up across the street from Grandview Golf Course and in my youth I thought it was the greatest place on earth. I spent a lot of time on that course. As I got older the course changed. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst.
The house I grew up in is right at the distance many golfers can hit a drive. So at a certain point golfers hit balls into the yard. Course rules are of a ball is out of bounds, you drop one inbounds and play from the legal course.
Well....
The city of Anderson decided to remove the out of bounds fence along the street (Northshore Blvd.) and now golfers think the yard of the house I grew up in is part of the course, crossing the street and even driving their golf carts deep into the property that DOES NOT BELONG to the city. They hit their balls out of the yard and often cause damage to the property.
Even had a police officer, yes one of Anderson's finest, hit a vehicle parked in the driveway and caused about 900 dollars with of damage. The public servant completely ignored the damage and claimed it couldn't be proven even though there were witnesses. They followed him up to the pro-shop only to be told by a group of officers they couldn't file a report because no one could prove he did it.
So, Grandview Golf Course also ignored the complaint.
Grandview Golf Course needs to reiterate the course rules regarding the properties across the street and here's an idea... Charge an insurance surcharge to every green fee for an insurance policy that will allow the residents across the street to file claims with Grandview when patrons of the course cause property damage and refuse to take responsibility. It is a shame employees of the city who are supposed to be public servants who are an example can ignore the responsibility of their power, and a golf course...
Read moreThe restaurant is closed on Monday, so you can not get ice nor drinks. No ice in clubhouse nor water on course. A group of teens from local surrounding schools had some sort of tournament/match, so they dumped them all on the back 9 just as we were starting the back. We weren't given a heads up by the elderly gentleman working there, and we got stuck between the 2 last groups. The teens are unsupervised, so a misfire off one green into the fairway of another, while looking into the sun as it hangs low during the dusk hours, infuriates these immature teens...we accidentally hit one of the golf carts, so the next hole they purposefully hit into us. Pendleton Heights kid missed us by less than 10 yards, then he drove up all smug and starting mouthing off. Avoid this place on Mondays. The course is short, so the greens are small or hard to hit. Course was in good shape. ...
Read moreI've never been treated as rudely or played a worse maintained course in all my time playing golf. Ballmarks and scuffs across the greens then beer cans and cigarettes thrown all over the course. Had a greenskeeper scorn my group because a hole was closed, the issue with that is we were never told and it wasn't marked closed, but he treated us awful. Huge divots in the fairways that were not replaced, absolutely no respect at all for what could be a great looking course.
Then to top it all off, it smell strongly of sewage along the 10/11 holes, to the point that my group picked up our balls and skipped the holes.
It's appalling that the City of Anderson takes such great "Pride" in this City owed course, to see it...
