Anoka County Fairgrounds — Local services in Anoka

My father was a member of the Anoka County Fair Board and an integral, hard-working volunteer member of the staff for many years. In 2017, he was unceremoniously voted out due to his membership with the Tri-County Threshers and their popular sawmill exhibit on display at the Fair.

Unfortunately, a majority of members of the board feel that including well-loved exhibits which highlight the unique agricultural history of Anoka County are an unwelcome addition. These individuals would rather turn the Fair into a trashy, generic, family un-friendly liquor festival to promote their friends' businesses. The blacksmith, the old farm village, and the real historic sawmill are key attractions that will be permanently eliminated from the 2018 Fair due to shameful, dishonest, greedy leadership.

Lotsa free parking is a plus, pay $10 to get in and then the grandstand and band she’ll are free. The draw for me was a regional (Wisc/Minn/Dakotas) truck n tractor pull. I did see one tractor actually pull. Then it rained and the pull was cancelled. Lost a couple stars there! They have the usual kiddie type rides, cotton candy, etc. AND some higher grade food like walleye, grilled/smoked beef n pork. I had a pulled pork sandwich and large fry. I feel ripped off. I paid $10 for a fair that was mostly closed. For reference, the Minnesota State Fair is $12 and the whole fair is open at lunchtime. I came specifically so I could have a pronto pup for my birthday. I waited 30 minutes for them checking out what was open and they still weren't open. When my mom complained, she was told that supposedly stuff was supposed to open at 1pm. No where online does it say stuff opens at 1, besides a lot of places were still setting up after 1.
