The grounds were beautiful! A bird had nested over the tavern exit door during Covid. I was carful to pass quietly as she watched me warily. I was very hot after tending my Dad's grave. I inquired of the only other patron, "had you known my Dad and Stepmom?. He indicated he had. Answering his phone he turned away. The bartenderess seem unable to find the tequila and said she was new to Anoka. I spoke of my return after 40yrs and told her I had never been in the establishment though my father frequently did. The other patron was on another call. She did manage to make a delicious cocktail for me, but refused to blend the Berry Margarita, saying that she hated blender drinks. At Her last job that is all they ordered! I paid cash and tipped over 25%. thanking her and praised her skills. The banquet server was kind enough to direct me to the outside smoking section. I asked the bartenderess if she would ask about the blender and told her about my toothache when she suggested shaken rather than stirred. I said I would return for another as I was enjoying the hospitality of the banquet server. On my way back in I stopped by the shop where I bought a hat. My 1/3 of a Margarita had been cleared and I was get the vibe from the bartender that I wasn't welcome. Sadly I...
Read moreWe had a party reservervation of 9- family from around the country, and from the get go, the server was very rude. It was 5:30 and we were rushed to order, as if the kitchen were closing. The place had a couple other smaller tables sat, but nothing too crazy. The server then forgets to take my order, so we had to track him down. I had a roasted burger, which had some nice ingredients- but the seasoning on the roasted tomatoes does not pair well with the rest of the ingredients, and the bottom bun was soaked from a waterfall of grease and tomato juice (which were placed under the patty). Overall the food was just ok, and for a 19 dollar burger, it was a big let down. The server was rude throughout most of the experience- he seems to be too good for his job or something. My family has been coming to Greenhaven for many years- some tonight, even worked there in the 80's. It was a sad experience, that had we a better server, may have been decent. I cannot recommend this restaurant. It is overpriced, and average food at best. Try and ask the bartender for some water! Rude employees, ruining what could have been a decent time- and for some long time patrons to have had service like this? Best of luck, Green Haven. Hopefully the course can...
Read moreWe tried the Tavern restaurant on Friday night before attending a local theater event. We were looking for a change of dining options. The positive aspects of this visit were that the Crab Cakes that I ordered were very tasty, and beautifully plated. Along with the crab cakes I ordered a side salad for $4.50. The disappointment over the size and tastiness of the salad might prevent us from returning. How much would the profit margin have been affected by preparing a more generous, fresher, slightly more complex salad. The little plastic cup of salad dressing was an insult for this price. Although our waitperson was very pleasant, it would have been nice if she had pointed out that a lovely and generous side of mixed greens accompanied the Crab Cakes. My husband ordered prime rib sandwich. It was good, but ordinary. He remarked that the au jus cup was inappropriately sized for dipping a bulky sandwich, and just enough au jus to barely do the job.The only reason for writing this review is because the venue seems as though it has promise as a new face in the Anoka dining market. It would be nice if the management would receive the criticism in a constructive manner it...
