RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. I purchased a Samsung washing machine in April of 2020. Immediately upon using for the first time, the machine malfunctioned and flooded my basement. A-1 apologized and sent out a service tech to fix about a week later. The machine worked fine for the second attempt at using, but then on the third attempt to use, it flooded my basement again. I called into A-1 service department and they said the would have a tech come out right away. About a week later, the tech showed up, took apart the machine and pulled out/showed me a rotted out piece that was causing the machine to leak. Had to order a replacement part for the defective valve that was causing leak and tech came back to install a week or two after the last time he was at my house. The machine stopped leaking, but immediately began pausing mid-cycle & multiple times during a regular washing cycle. When the machine would pause and E3 (electrical issue) code would flash on the digital screen and I would have to manually restart the cycle by pushing the button. Each load of laundry would take around 3 hours just to complete the washing cycle due to the machine malfunctioning and not running properly. I called back into the A-1 service department in June, July, August, October & November of 2020 only to be told that their service technicians were scarce and or not available due to COVID19. The service representative I spoke with in August told me they may have to just replace the machine and would contact me back once they had an available technician, but I never received a call back or follow up. Frustrated with having to manually spend so much time doing single loads of laundry, I called back into the service department in December (before xmas). The service representative repeated the claim of "Due to COVID19 they were short on service technicians and that she was not sure when they would be able to get somebody out to fix", but she would let me know as soon as she had an available tech. The service representative also told me that she would escalate this to a higher up within the company and would be contacting me within the next couple of days to provide an introduction to that person (Jeanie). I never received a call back and introduction to Jeanie. In January, I called back into the A-1 service department and spoke with the service rep again. She told me she didn't remember our previous conversations and that they didn't have any notes past June in their system regarding the dozen or so previous attempts to get help and conversations i had with them. I was told by service rep (word for word) "that's the risk you take when buying a used appliance through A-1" and pointed out that the warranty period for this particular unit expired in October and that it would no longer cover this issue i had been calling in about since June. After a little back and forth regarding my frustrations in purchasing a unit that has never properly worked (since the day I purchased), the customer service rep told me she informed a higher up (within the company) of the situation and that she may be calling me back. I was...
Read moreMy father in law bought a clothes washer from A1 appliance (aka. A1 Recycling) 6 days ago. He informed them he needed a large capacity washer for a large family. What they sold him was nothing close to it. He was told the washer was a refurbished one that is reliable and works great. Got it here and set it up, only to find out that the washer can only do a few items at a time and is not for a large family. So I called and left a message explaining the situation with the sales rep that sold the washer. Hours later I called again and left a message with the general sales department this time. After an hour the rep called me back. I explained the situation and asked if it was possible to exchange the washer for one that IS a high capacity washer. The rep proceeded to list off a few washers for hundreds more then what he paid, when I was hesitant about putting more money out the rep then says "oh..I just found one that is being worked on now and it is only $400 and it is new but the same brand" (the others were $640 to $750). When I asked if none of the other washers worked out what are the options. She says "they don't give money back" and it would be a store credit with a $50 restocking fee! (We had not even had the washer 24 hours at this point.) This sent off alarms for me...a credible business that stands behind it's service does not force people to buy from them. We decided to just avoid doing further business with them and deal with the washer until we could get one that is a high capacity. Now after doing a few (and I mean a few since I can't really do laundry) loads of laundry, we have found that the washer is garbage. The safety lock does not stay locked, tried washing a queen mattress cover on the "bulky" setting and it took four washs just to get it to clean (the first two times it only came out damp), it can not even handle washing FOUR bath towels, it had literally taken me 9 HOURS to get ONE small load of laundry done because it won't finish the spin cycle and drain the water on normal wash (I finally said to heck with it and wrung the clothes out myself so I could dry them). Reading reviews here and their FB page, many people have had issues with the appliances they sell not working right out the door or immediately after and they over charge. They claim to be a Christian business but in reality they take advantage of people's faith just to make a sale! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...if you get an appliance from them, it will be a fight to get your money back!! Go somewhere that stands behind their service! Update to add: They sell the appliances with a "6 month warranty", yet they do not honor it. I have called and left messages three times with their repair department in the last week and a half, they have never returned my call. I'm now having to go to the laundromat to wash clothes since this washer does not work correctly and they won't repair it, so we are out...
Read moreCannot recommend. Very poor customer service.
Purchased a stove and fridge from them. While loading, they dropped the stove and the glass shattered to a million pieces - purely by accident. They offered a similar one with less options, which we said yes too. Brought that home and it made a loud pop with a flash and died as soon as we plugged it in. We called and told them we wanted to return, and to come pick it up. They said we would need to pay a delivery fee.
We wanted to buy another stove. Had they asked us to come purchase one, that they would deliver that and pick up the faulty one, we would have said yes. But drove it over there and returned the faulty stove. They said they had wired it wrong. Accidents happen. I get it. But they failed at making it right.
It gets better. The fridge started making a strange whirring sound 3 days after we owned it. Called them four times before we could get someone to respond. They offered to send technician over to look at it. Days went by with no response, and two more calls later they tell us that since the fridge is running, they cannot send someone. Only If it breaks, will they send someone.
Decided to stop working with them and called a service company to look at the fridge. They showed us that the manufacturers label was missing from the fridge. This has the model number, serial number, and other information needed in case of repair. They have a computer printer Avery label with their service tag. Which does nothing to anyone other than them. Without the manufacturer info, we can't even order a part. Per the company that came and looked at the fridge, you are required to remove the label on salvage items to prevent resale. I have no way to confirm this statement.
The coils on the back of the fridge have about 2 inches of dust and dirt on them (will post pictures soon). So I highly suspect their definition of "refurbished". They didn't even make an attempt to clean those. It appears the evaporator fan is what is making a noise, but without knowing what part to order (even if wanted to replace it), we have to wait till it breaks to take it apart.
I understand that they are used appliances. I understand that the buyer is on their own after 90 days. But when we have issues immediately after purchase, they tend to provide poor customer service. The money we "saved" has been blown away by multiple trips to return equipment, time spent calling, waiting, waiting, calling again etc.
You live and learn. Hoping the fridge will last us a...
