McKenzie Palace Theatre — Local services in Antigo

Charming Theater in downtown Antigo, WI. We watched Ready Player One in 3D last night. I was skeptical that this small town theater would not do justice to the movie but I was pleasantly surprised. The sound system was phenomenal, the seats were of the rocking chair variety with enough padding and support to be comfortable for the entire 2.5 hours. The screen was a bit small but sitting closer would solve that for a 3D movie. The painted wood floors added an element of nostalgic charm along with the red and gold theme of the decor. The staff was helpful and easy to engage in conversation. The popcorn was hot, buttery, and plentiful. The prices for admission and snacks are almost a throwback in time themselves.

The only negative is the men's room. While clean enough it is a bit creepy. You go down a very narrow set of steps to what feels like the set of slasher movie. The whole time I was washing my hands I half expected a clown to bust out of the hasp-locked plywood doors behind me.

I highly recommend taking a journey to Antigo for an experience you will remember for a long time. Say hello to Roan hanging near the balcony...

This movie theater is an old theater. And I mean old, like historical landmark old, which is in itself with seeing. The theater is handicap accessible and it does have one handicap accessible bathroom. (I suggest using it if you're even a little uncertain on stairs as the regular bathrooms are down a very narrow, uneven flight). The popcorn is delicious and the staff is friendly. The seats, however, are not very comfortable, which is a bummer. All in all, we'll be using this theater less then the bigger cinemas that are a little farther away, but if you don't want to make the drive, you won't be disappointed by this...

This theater is older and I think that's what we all love about it. When you step inside its almost like you are transported back in time and you can feel the history of this small town. My sons favorite part is the snack counter prices are pretty much what you would expect anywhere else. But now let me tell you what sets this small town theater out from the rest to me is there popcorn... I'm not sure why it is but out of all the other cinemas I've been to this one just seems to have the best tasting popcorn out of all of them, and I love the small...
