Beautiful destination. This is one of the places we visited for our anniversary get away. The campus is amazingly clean and well maintained. The Abbey itself is situated right on the Missouri river, on a bluff with an amazing view. They were recently gifted a grant to build an overlook point, just behind the abbey, that is breathtaking. We went into the abbey itself, not sure if we were welcome to look around but wanting to ask, and ran into a very helpful student that told us where we could and could not go. Because of covid, there were less places to tour, but it was still beautiful. She told us that sometimes there is someone available to take people around and explain the history of the abbey, much like a guided tour. Read moreVisited the monastery and I have to say—five stars, no notes. The hospitality? Divine. The silence? Immaculate. The monks? Friendly, peaceful, and suspiciously good at most things.
The atmosphere is like if HGTV met heaven: stone walls, candlelight, Gregorian chants echoing in the halls—think Hogwarts except Catbolic. Attended Vespers and was 80% sure I’d time-traveled.
Pro tips: • Don’t expect fast Wi-Fi. Expect inner peace. • The gift shop slaps—I didn’t know I needed monk braclets or a Benedictine Rule fridge sticker, but here we are.

No matter whom of the brothers I have encountered, nor how badly lost or empty I felt, I have always arrived feeling most welcome, stayed feeling as if my spirituality was being rekindled and left, feeling full.
I cannot say enough good things about Saint Benedict’s Abbey guesthouse.
