“Captain Mason: The Chillest Pirate on the Texas Colorado River!”**
Arrr mateys, gather 'round, for I’ve a tale to tell of the legendary Captain Mason, the most laid-back pirate to ever motor the Colorado River!
We embarked on a one-hour voyage, expecting rough waters and pillaging—only to find that Captain Mason was a pirate of a different breed. With a relaxed vibe that could calm even the most treacherous waters, he welcomed us aboard with a hearty grin and a bottle of… water. But be warned, lads and lasses, the Captain’s stash of Dos Equis is strictly off-limits—cross that line, and you might find yourself walking the plank!
As we cruised along the river, we caught sight of the occasional split-tail and there was no shortage of wildlife. Captain Mason regaled us with tales of the landlubbers who dwell in the mansions along the banks. He painted vivid pictures of riches and extravagance, making us wonder if we should’ve traded in our sea legs for real estate licenses instead of pirate hats.
So if you’re looking for a cruise where the captain’s as cool as a summer breeze and the sights are rich (literally), set sail with Captain Mason. Just remember: stay hydrated, keep your hands off the Dos Equis, and enjoy the ride, because with this pirate, it’s smooth sailing all...
Read moreOverall, I had a good experience with Austin Boat Rental and found the Groupon to be well worth the price. The process of booking and getting on the boat was smooth, and the staff was professional. However, I did have one issue that made the experience less enjoyable. My partner and I were the first to board the boat, and we chose to sit in the only shaded area for personal reasons. Shortly after, a larger group boarded, and the captain, Riggs, called us out from across the boat, asking only me and my partner to move so the group could sit together.
It was really awkward and uncomfortable to be singled out in front of everyone, especially since I had chosen my seat deliberately. I would have been more understanding if it were a family with children, but that wasn’t the case. This situation instantly made the environment feel unwelcoming, which was disappointing.
I don’t think there was bad intent from Riggs, but I believe the group should have been the ones to ask if anyone would be willing to move, rather than the captain putting us on the spot in front of everyone on the boat. Other than that, it was a decent...
Read moreAbsolutely unforgivable. We booked a boat through Austin Rental Boats for a graduation celebration that had been months in the making — a once-in-a-lifetime moment with family flying in from Massachusetts, Houston, and North Carolina. We were in full compliance: signed the waivers, confirmed the dock, brought catered food, packed coolers, and even had dogs with us. This was supposed to be a joyous memory.
What did we get? Abandonment.
They never showed. Not late — just never came. We called and called. No answer. Not one message, not one call back, not even a single shred of acknowledgment. Just total silence while the sun went down and we sat there — our food untouched, our plans in ruins, our entire group devastated.
This wasn’t just bad service — this was a total collapse of professionalism. The emotional damage of watching excited faces slowly turn to disappointment cannot be undone.
Multiple generations, multiple species, and not one ounce of respect from this company.
Avoid at all costs. Unreliable, unreachable, and apparently unconcerned with the lives and...
