Started out going to the larger more common stores (Diamond Direct, Zales, etc.) like everyone does, but felt dissatisfied with the customer service. Just seemed rushed when looking. I wanted time to think things over and I wanted patience with me as I asked all the technical questions (diamond dimensions, the 4C’s, polish quality, etc.)

So about a month into my search for an engagement ring, I come across Calvin’s Fine Jewelry, along with the large amount of positive reviews they had. I read basically all of them and was ready to pay a visit (hence the reason why I’m spending the time to write this one).

Met with Calvin Jr. and was surprised with how down-to-earth he was. He was friendly yet respectful, incredibly patient with all my questions, and made me feel like I was his number one priority. There was nothing rushed or awkward with meeting/working with him. He’s willing to listen while you ask any questions. Not to mention he had a plethora of information on diamonds, which I later found out that he actually went to a GIA school to study diamonds! But anyways, after looking at the selection they had on hand, I still wanted to see a few more before making a decision. He assured me we would find something that I loved, and he would spend time over the weekend putting together a good handful of diamonds for me to look at the start of next week.

This is where I feel Calvin’s Fine Jewelry sticks out from the rest of the jewelers. Over the weekend I get a text from Calvin Jr. letting me know he is excited about helping me locate the perfect diamond for my fiancé, and that he is putting together a handful of them for me to look at that he thinks would be amazing and will meet my budget. Talk about going the extra mile to make customers feel taken care of!! I’m hanging out and enjoying my weekend while this guy is working hard on his weekend to make sure I’m going to be satisfied come the start of next week. I’m telling you, he does all the heavy lifting for you, while making sure to keep an open communication line between y’all to where you as the customer are still in control. That right there, is fantastic customer service.

I ended up picking one of the diamonds he selected over the weekend. It is AMAZING!! As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed to buy it. My fiancé LOVES how it sparkles in the light. And here’s the other kicker, most places ask for 4-6 weeks turn around time… Calvin’s did it in 1 DAY!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with them, seriously y’all are the best! I can't recommend Calvin's enough. If I could give them 10 stars I would! My girlfriend and I started the process of shopping for an engagement ring several months ago with no clue where to start, what to look for in a diamond, etc. We were flying blind. We went to 4 jewelry stores that had great Google reviews (5 stars), but Calvin's was the only one that lived up to their reviews. No other jewelers took the time to walk us through what to look for in a diamond, the give-and-take of clarity and color and how it affects price, etc. and all were very nonchalant in their approach to helping us and just didn't seem to care that much. Calvin's was totally different. Calvin Jr. (the owner's son) helped us through every step of finding the right ring. On our first visit he took over an hour to educate us on everything we needed to know about diamonds and rings. When it became apparent that the ring we wanted wasn't in store or something we'd ever find "off the shelf", Calvin Jr. walked us through what the process would be like to design and have a ring custom made. I wasn't quite ready to start the process of buying a ring right then and there, and Calvin totally understood, gave me his number, and told me to reach out when I was ready; truly a no pressure situation (which was important for me since it was my first big jewelry purchase). Fast forward about a month and I let Calvin know it was time to get the ball rolling towards finding the right stone for the ring and getting the design ironed out. From there, Calvin set out on a two week long hunt for the right diamond for our dream ring. Once he found it, I gave him the design of what my fiancé wanted in a ring and he turned it into a reality! He went above and beyond to get us exactly what we wanted. The quality of the ring is second to none, Calvin found a stone that fit into my budget perfectly, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience from a jewelry store or engagement ring buying process. We'll be back for our wedding bands in a few months, and we'll never use another jeweler again!

Calvin's is my absolute favorite jewelry store in all of Texas! My husband and I purchased our wedding bands at Calvin's...and we've been going back for more ever since. Here's why:

When making an investment in high-quality jewelry, it's comforting to work with genuinely friendly people during each and every visit (and, yes, at one point I was visiting almost every day until I was confident I picked "the one"). Sinthia is always the first to greet me (by name), offers a refreshing beverage, cleans my rings to keep them sparkly and is so encouraging. Sinthia is like having a close friend along with you when picking out a special piece of jewelry.

The real gem at Calvin's is Calvin Jr. I must have tried on 50 different wedding bands (yes, bands, not engagement rings) and he was incredibly patient and kind throughout the process, indulging my every request to "try on this, no that one, how about this one..." Not to mention, he is knowledgable about each ring, style and designer and shared helpful insight and creative ideas on pairing my rings. Thank you to Calvin Jr. for turning a stressful decision into an enjoyable and fun experience. Also, Calvin Jr.'s professionalism converted my husband - who tends to be a jewelry store sceptic - into a Calvin's Fine Jewelry Fan. In fact, my husband has since gone back to Calvin Jr. to buy a beautiful set of gold and ruby hoop earrings as a surprise gift for me (rare and well appreciated!). I, too, have gone back to buy another ring from Calvin Jr.

Last, but not least, I must thank Jackie and Calvin Sr. Thank you to Jackie for helping me make my FINAL decision about the ring. (Ladies, when in doubt, ask Jackie!) And, thank you to Calvin Sr. for staying late one night to re-size my wedding band so it would fit perfectly during the honeymoon.
