I was almost given another patient's medicine while I stayed here. If I hadn't have recognized that those were not my pills, the nurse would have continued to give me numerous pills that were not prescribed to me. That is an incredibly dangerous situation. I submitted a complaint in writing upon discharge and no one followed up with me about it. I was on unit 8 hours after admission and finally was shown my room, and that was only after I asked about it. When they showed me my bed, it still had the previous patient's bedding on it so they hadn't cleaned it yet, even though I had been on the unit for 8 hours already. My loved ones tried calling me while I was there but the staff never told me that they called. Each staff member on the unit had differing opposing policies from one another, so it made the patient's experience that much harder to go through. One person told you one thing and someone else told you something else regarding laundry procedures, the 4-hour letter, etc. I asked for toiletries the day I arrived and a staff member only gave me a roll of toilet paper. A few days later I asked another staff member for toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb and was told there were no more combs on the unit and that they would go to another unit to get one. I never received a comb during the 6 days that I was there. I was scolded by a Tech for leaving my laundry by my patient room door and was told that was not how doing laundry was supposed to work. When in fact the previous day another Tech told me to leave my laundry either by the laundry room door or by my door to be washed. And that Tech is the one who left my clean laundry by my patient room door for me to have when I woke up and the Tech that scolded me is the one that found my laundry sitting there and got upset at me for leaving it there, which I didn't in fact do. That is just one example of opposing policies given by different staff members. Housekeeping never cleaned our patient room's bathroom during the whole 6 days that's was there. Keep in mind that the room served two patients so paper towels run out and things need cleaning more often. But the trash was overflowing and we ran out of paper towels and were told from staff that there were no paper towels on unit and that housekeeping provided that. So we had to use a washcloth between the two of us to dry our hands the last few days I was there. The cafeteria provides no ingredient lists for food served, which makes eating with food allergies extremely stressful. Each time I picked an item to eat, I took a chance that I would have a severe reaction. What made things worse is that some of the food servers were doing major cross-contamination when serving food. They would use the same gloved hands to pick up multiple different food items to put on the patient's plate. They wouldn't use serving utensils for each item. Just put their gloved hand directly on the food item, put it on the plate, and proceed to put the same gloved hand directly on a different food item and put that item on a plate. Several servers did this while I was there. I am allergic to honey and they picked up ham (likely containing honey) and then picked up the blueberry pancakes with the same gloved hand. That could have been deadly to me. Again, this is something I complained in writing about but no one followed up with me. And the icing on the cake was that my discharge had to be rushed due to me having to catch the hospital transportation van so I was hurried through the paperwork quickly. When I got to the inventory sheet that stated I received my medicine that I arrived with back, I didn't have time to actually check my belongings to be sure. And seeing how I never saw anyone take out my medicines from my purse upon admission, I assumed my medicine was still in my purse. I find out it wasn't. I immediately called the hospital when I got to my discharge destination and verified that they indeed forgot to put my medicines back into my belongings. Cross Creek, please verify that you mailed my Epi Pen and rescue...
Read moreThis place is by the most disgusting place ever to put a child in my son was in there for two days and they were very unprofessional and disorganized and the doctors there have no communication whatsoever with the parents nor the therapist they never called me to tell me how many days my son was going to stay there. They never talk to me about what they were going to do with him for his medications the only time I heard from the nurse was to get my consent if my son could take a bipolar pill that was given to my son. The nurse only called me to convince me of the doctors orders to get my consent to saying yes or no and even though I said no they still gave it to him the pill. Everything there is very unprofessional including the nurses I was there from 10 AM and didn’t leave till 1:00pm they had called me that my son was ready for pick up and it was a lie it took them a long time just to get him ready and they didn’t even have all his meds together.I even asked for a school note and the nurse went back to see if she can get me one she kept on telling me that they didn’t give school notes anymore but for her to bring me that’s note to me it took her two hours and she never came back The receptionist in the front office with the only want to get the therapist in that facility to write a note for school but two hours it’s ridiculous to wait on a school note. The staff nurses and doctors are by far the most worthless you would think that because it’s an awesome city in specially because were in the capital Of Austin you would bring your kid to a good place I do not recommend this place to nobody regardless what the caseworker have to say regardless what that state has to say regardless of cops have to say about this place The kids are not getting any help whatsoever they’re only there because that way they don’t hurt anybody and they don’t hurt themselves there’s no therapy involved there’s no communication with the parents either and you only get visitations certain days and certain timeframes. I believe that as a parent we are allowed to speak up of what our kids tell us and experience about this place and what we see and experience ourselves! The staff is unprofessional with the kids because they use profanity on them instead of speaking to them politely and correctly. My son was given a red pill while he was there and they give it to everyone this red pill and the symptoms are for them to erase the memory so they don’t remember nothing about cross creek! I never spoke to the doctor I never got to speak to the therapist I never got to speak to anyone there just the people in the front office to drop off the clothes for my son.I never got a call saying that they needed to do a conference with me with the doctors or therapists and they never even told me when or how many days my son was going to spend there. The only time I heard from the therapist what was when I had to go pick him up because his time was expired and they just wanted to continue treatment and I said no to them because as a parent I feel responsible to get him better help on the outside without him being in a place where it’s bad and loss of communication and Disorganized. I recommend to every parent that has their child here to check their blood levels after they leave this place there you’ll find out if they gave them there medicine the way they’re supposed to there if those lap works come in low that means that they didn’t give him the medicine that they were supposed to give them the time being there! I also know about the ice box because my son told me about it. After discharge they tried to convince my son to stay. Never again 🤯 after picking up my son from that terrifying place it looked like he didn’t get enough rest Nor sleep not enough food because he was starving and he Was wearing the same clothing since the day that he got there he didn’t even look like he took a shower he had to white stuff all over his hair . iAs a parent I’m not gonna sugarcoat it for anybody I am going to sAy anything but...
Read moreDO NOT go thinking you are voluntary - it is not true. I will go so far as to say the caseworker from Integral Care blatantly and knowingly lied. My son needs a diagnosis and possibly medication, and they told him it would just be "a few hours to stabilize him and assess him" and assured us both that he could leave if the facility was not helping. Integral Care said that Cross Creek was a place he could get a diagnosis and be cared for while he was going through some pretty scary delusions. When it was clear that this was where the police brought detoxing criminals and not a facility for someone who needed help to stabilize, I tried to get my son out. I was laughed at in my face. In. My. Face. My kid is crumbling into tears and the staff is laughing in my face.
I said he was there voluntarily and could leave any time. The nurse (THE NURSE!) said, "Oh, they say that to everyone. He is here for 7-10 business days" and laughed. I said that it sounded illegal for a health practitioner to lie. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
My son is having delusions and he is in there right now. He's crying when he calls because no one will tell him what's going on. That place is making his delusions worse and no one at Cross Creek (nor Integral) cares. 52 hours later, he hasn't seen a Doctor. Yesterday I finally got someone from Integral to talk to me, and she said that by Law he is supposed to be seen within 24 hours. "Don't worry," she chirped. "By Law he HAS to be seen tomorrow morning!" I tried to call back this morning (36 hours) to tell see why her info is different - a Supervisor got on and said that "Integral cannot do anything about it because he is not under Integral's care." Slam.
Even though they gave him Medical advice and assured me it would be a few hours. Maybe lying is the only way Cross Creek can get funding...and the "case workers" who funnel people in are given a cut. Sarcastic...but I only half disbelieve it.
I finally talked to a case manager at Cross Creek, and she feigned shock that Integral would do all of that that...then later let is slip that even the Police lie - maybe because it's easier to pass responsibility to someone else? Who knows. Whatever the reason, APD is lying to people and should be jailed...Integral is giving damaging medical advice and shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. As a result, hundreds of people are getting chewed up by that gristmill for the crime of asking for help.
The worst part is that I told the case worker that one of my son's delusions was he thought our neighbor was trying to hurt me by sending me wave patterns and my son was keeping me safe by not telling me about it. The case worker turned it around and told Cross Creek that my son was trying to hurt the neighbor. I said over and over that my son is NOT a danger to himself or others, but he needed immediate care because he was having delusions. But by saying that, it got twisted to my son wanting to attack the neighbor.
If we had know that there was no such thing as a voluntary admittance, we would not have gone. And now he is stuck there and is still having delusions.
This has backfired spectacularly. Those people simply proved to my son that he can't trust trying to get help. It is going to make it so much harder to get him help now. Texas has become the worst State to have mental health issues if you are not phenomenally wealthy.
Shame on Cross Creek. Shame on Integral Care. Is it the money? They seemed more excited about getting him funding than they were on getting him somewhere he could be diagnosed and helped so that he can get back to being a part of Society.
Bottom line: DO NOT BELIEVE A VOLUNTARY ADMITTANCE. We were both told over and over that he could walk out any time he wanted to if it didn't help like they said it would. I don't think they feel any guilt at all that they contributed to the damage my son is going through.
They got their money, so what do they care. Another statistic they can complain about. Another broken soul...
