I have visited several community centers in the Austin metropolitan area as of lately. Of them all, I found that the best one is the Asian American Resource Center located on the Northeast area of the city. The AARC excels for its cleanliness, its events and the spaciousness of its locale. It is always neat and counts with excellent staff permanently ready to offer one a helping-hand at very event and at each inquire. The food served at the cafeteria is the best of all centers in town. The cafeteria is a stand-alone service which is ready for the enjoyment and satisfaction of the patrons. The food served is customer- and health-oriented: they serve a variety of cooked veggies, fine Asian rice perfectly steamed, highly nutritious meals —and in the right amounts— cooked with low sodium and and very little sugar every time I’ve eaten at the cafeteria — what else I can ask for? Also, I found other patrons making positive comments about the variety of the choices contained on the weekly menu. I share their comments in every sense. I have also noticed that everything one needs to eat is there available and ready to be provided should anything is missing. My congratulations to AARC for counting on such effecient and efficacious food manager, Ms Rani Arni, the special program manager —and her staff— who knows her assignments rather well, does a good job and is always mindful about paying attention to tend and satisfy the needs of the daily patrons...

I asked if I could learn from them. They invited me here and that's how I discovered this wonderful center.
Besides ping ping, they have a lot of activities for senior Asian but not only ping pong. They have multiple exercise classes, yoga, Tai chi, even dance classes, and sometimes shows and concerts. They also offer cards games and other table games.
They offer a garden club where seniors grow their own plants and flowers.
Bollywood dancing, cooking classes, technology classes if you want to improve your computer skills. Arts & crafts as well as calligraphy. Health classes and many more. See their website for more info.
