Enjoyed our Sunday afternoon visit to Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms. Was hoping there would be docents on site, but there weren’t. Most buildings do have plaques outside their doors describing where the home or barn came from. And there also was information about some early Austin residents. The property is large and involves lots of walking. Newer buildings from the later 1800s are at the front, with the more primitive early 1800s home further in the back. We didn’t get to the Indian site.

This is a really neat place to visit and see the way houses used to be. They have it all set up and cards in the wall to tell the stories. Donkeys, chickens, Turkey’s, horses and king horn. The staff is very knowledgeable and love to share the history. There is a lot of walking. They also do a lot of holiday and homeschool specials.

Very educational with lots of supplemental and hands on classes/guided tours! There's a lot of care taken to explain the history of the area and various houses on site. I love that you can make multiple trips and still learn something new! Definitely check out a class or specific tour to enhance the experience

Pioneer Farms is a historic living history site, with many buildings and homes from the 19th century and is a valuable part of preserving Texas history. It does have some animals, however is NOT solely a petting zoo, as some reviewers expressed disappointment when the sheer weight of history, the impressive furnished homes and businesses, the guides who give detailed history lessons, and all the frontier classes available failed to impress them. It is a peaceful and highly educational experience and has been for decades. Bring the family and enjoy, especially now that it’s...

Had a great dance at their venue. The floor was nice and the venue was open. Perfect location for the weather. The dance hall was large and able to hold plenty of dancers with room to move and a band.

They had refreshments for sale. I was sad that there wasn’t a water bottle refill station. And, the bathrooms were one stall and could have used a larger space for that. Overall the venue was great and I would...
