I am a Catholic, a lifetime fan of the Jesuits, and a lifetime education. I spent 14 years in the Christian Brothers (of St. John Baptist de La Salle). My last full-time job was editor for the President of Assumption University of Thailand, 2005-2008. I resigned to accompany my wife to Harvard for post-doctoral studies. She remains in Boston with her own business and is an on-call medical interpreter at a Harvard teaching hospital. We are separated and don't share resources. My modest pension income was reduced by half due to a divorce in 2005 I have been under on-going medical care in Austin, Texas, since 2011. I contacted the SVDP society and they kindly arranged to visit me. However, tomorrow I am leaving for Oregon to attend my son's wedding. SVDP left me a voice message, undated, saying that their people will come "tomorrow" without giving me the date. I desperately need help with rent and food, and tried to call their number at least six times today, September 23, 2014. I called over and over, getting only busy signals. After my last two or three tries, there was only silence. I am going to try sending an email to the parish office, and to their St Vincent de Paul office, but I feel very disappointed that the SVDP number is to incredibly frustrating. I plan to begin part of the Perpetual Adoration activity, but I have to travel by Metro Access for handicapped people. I broke two vertebrae in April 2013, due to vertigo. I have severe hearing difficulties. I am 77 years old, and diabetic. I respect the SVDP volunteers, and don't want to miss their visit, but I don't know when to expect them, and will leave my apartment this afternoon to start my trip to Oregon. I encourage Sacred Heart and the SVDP to be more accessible by email or phone. God bless the Parish and the SVDP volunteers. I'll try to reconnect starting September, when I return from the wedding. Sincerely, James P...

Read moreTheir priest is so hands off that he does not let the ushers stop people for the next mass from entering, interuppting the mass that is currently going on. This makes it very distracting to those trying to enjoy service. He says the ushers aren't traffic...
