Southern Lawn Care — Local services in Austin

I've been using Southern Lawn Care since moving to Georgetown three years ago, at the beginning, their service was fine, enough so that I recommended them to a few of my neighbors (new housing community in the area), who explained to me they had terrible experiences with Southern Lawn Care after my recommendation. I defended them and still stuck with them given I wasn't unhappy with their service. I then started to notice the quality of service declined. I work from home so when they'd come (usually a team of two young boys) I would notice them cutting corners and just flat out carelessness with their work (for example, they completely destroyed one of the let's on my kids playscape, riding over the edge with their riding mower). I emailed Brooke and she responded, at which point, there was a single man team assigned to me lawn, he came and again, did a fine job for a while but as of recently (Nov '24 - Feb '25) I've again, noticed a huge decline in service, for example, the team that came out this past week decided they were doing to work around a few kids toys in the yard rather than take the 30 seconds to more things out of the way and do the job properly. For context, I typically have kids toys picked up when they come but they decided to switch days without warning. I emailed Brooke, explaining this to her given this isn't the first time I've had issues and had yet to hear back (typically she's been super responsive). At this point, I'll be cancelling my service with them once Brooke responds to me message and would highly recommend to be cautious if you decide to use Southern Lawn Care.

I had a tough time coordinating with Jenny. Even during the first initial services I had to call 3 times just to know whether they have confirmed the visit or not. There are no updates and I have to call multiple times to get that information about the approx time crew will come to work and despite having an ongoing chat convo since 2 weeks she suddenly forgets who I am. I asked her to share with me the policy docs and dates when the appointment was scheduled for (considering we booked them for multiple services and like our calendars to be organized and updated which I told her over call and she assured me that she will email me) but I kept on receiving approx timelines without a clarification that they won’t be able to provide the exact dates (how much does it take to simply be honest). Later when I expressed interest in speaking with the owner, she, in the name of trying to resolve issues, threatened me to discontinue services. She left no stones unturned in being rude in a polished manner. She also told me that the owner has reviewed the case and is not interested in getting involved. If the owner feels that the review of a case is completed without even speaking to the customer and hearing their side of the story then that business should...

I found out about Southern Lawn Care (note that Lawn and Care are two separate words, not all one word, a critical distinction) by a door hanger tag. Usually I ignore these, but this one exuded such detail and competence that it caught my attention. That and the fact that I was then considering another landscaping bid.

I was able to get a detailed bid from Southern Lawn Care within a couple of days, aided by Jenny in the office and Danny, who performed the preliminary site visit. After considering our flower bed diagrams and plant lists, we got a detailed estimate covering bed prep, installation of over 120 new plants, division and transplant of some existing plants and mulching. The price was less than half of the other bid we had initially considered.

The entire project was accomplished by Danny and his crew in a single day, several days after the initial visit. No surprises, no drama, just competent, pleasant people working in a highly efficient manner at a great price.
