Quick note: if you are shopping for a wedding ring/jewelry, don't think you can't afford to use a jeweler. That was my first assumption (because I'm just a regular guy), and I'm glad I talked to him and asked anyway.

I was referred by a friend of mine that had an amazing experience here, and his referral was excellent. Matt's entire operation is understated, personalized, unique, and exceptional all at once. A quick visit of the website will let you in on the experience he provides, but I want to let you know it's all very true to it's description, and he is very good at educating, creating, and servicing every part of your jewelry experience.

I came to Matt about 5 months before I proposed, and after a very short e-mail exchange, we were talking on the phone to make sure it was a good fit. I was after a custom Ring design, but I didn't know if my 'budget' fit into his typical service floor as I'm just a regular guy (and custom jewelry sounds VERY expensive to me!). The next thing I know I was up at his office, having a one on one 'Diamonds 101' class with him, where he let me choose how much I wanted to know or see (because once you see the flaws using the tools? It's hard to go back!).

Once I was educated, I came back at another time with a better defined budget, and ready to look at Diamonds. I came very close to purchasing one that day, but was assured that there would be more in his inventory next time i came up ( a month later). A Month later, after much deliberation and 45 minutes of looking? I had the perfect stone. I will say it was a daunting task, but Matt never once pulled the old salesman tactic of 'Well... Im not supposed to show you this but...', and kept every offering within my range ceiling and floor. He isn't the kind of guy who's pushing you outside your comfort zone, and that is huge for me on a purchase this size.

Once the Diamond was selected? We discussed ring design where I sketched numerous rings over and over til I found one or two I really felt good and E-mailed them to him. He created some renderings, and we back and forthed several times to make it PERFECT. After selecting the design, he provided me the cost in both White Gold and Platinum, advised me on the pros and cons, and let me think on it for a few days.

My final meeting with Matt before my proposal was to pick up the finished design, and to finish payment. The design was exactly as he had drawn it, and our short meeting was quick and ended with 'good luck!'.

All in all? Matt and I have over 50 e-mails back and forth, dozens and dozens of text messages, and met 5 times (mostly outside of regular business hours or on weekends) to make sure everything was perfect. His level of customer service and satisfaction is exactly what I wanted, and Dollar for quality, I don't think you can find anyone else like him. He's very good at what he does, and it's why we'll go back to him for our wedding bands, future custom...

Just wanted to thank Matt O'Desky, owner of The Austin Diamond Room, for taking such good care of my husband and I as clients for the past seven years. We started working long-distance with Matt (as we live in Illinois) back in 2010, when we began discussing engagement ring options. My husband, then fiancé, had NO clue what kind of ring I wanted, and so I worked with Matt on some likes and dislikes and sent him photos of possible elements to include in the ring. From there, he worked with my husband to budget and design a gorgeous, classy radiant-cut solitaire ring. Matt was so patient with us, offered his expertise when asked, but really let us guide the entire process from start to finish. Of course, the actually proposal was a surprise...as was the finished ring! The ring turned out even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined!

Fast forward to choosing our wedding bands months later...and the amazing customer service continued. I was dead-set on a channel set diamond band. Though, I think it was only because of memories of my childhood and my mom always talking about channel-set diamond rings. When the ring arrived just a week before our wedding, I discovered it was NOT AT ALL my taste. I was distraught and in such a panic, as our wedding was just a week away. Matt went over some options with us and once we decided on a more fitting band option, he made it a priority to get it done quickly. Not only that, he literally flew the ring in himself, just so we would have it the night before the wedding! Talk about committed!

Since then, Matt has resized my engagement ring twice, fixed some loose prongs, and even helped us find a new loose diamond when one went missing from my wedding band...and all of this done long-distance. His knowledge of the industry, sales, and repairs is outstanding, as his communication and work-ethic. He even steered us toward an amazing private jewelry insurance company to insurance our rings. Now, we are working with Matt on a piece from a new line he is launching to honor our three babies, with an image of their heartbeats engraved in metal along with their birthstones. I cannot wait to see the finished products! I'm so glad we found him and The Austin...

Now to the whole story… So, I approached the process of getting my, now, fiancé her engagement ring with a fairly blank slate. I was also quite intimidated before actually jumping in. Luckily, I had a good friend give me a great recommendation. This led me to The Austin Diamond District and specifically Matt O’Desky. After our first phone conversation, I became less intimidated because I quickly could tell that Matt was going to TAKE THE TIME to walk me through the ENTIRE process.

The next step was actually getting to sit down with Matt in person. I wanted to have my fiancé a part of the process, and this had potential to become invasive. But through the entire process, Matt’s professionalism and knowledge never made for an awkward moment between my fiancé and I. My intimidation quickly shifted into excitement after sitting down with Matt after just one session.

Like I said, I was very much a novice when I walked into Matt’s office. By the end of the process, I felt like I had a distinct ability to recognize a great diamond. He really put a lot of effort into educating us as we worked towards personalizing and creating exactly what we wanted.

On top of this, I was in the middle of a quite busy time of my life, and finding time in my schedule was always a struggle. Luckily, Matt made himself available for me on the weekends and after hours in order to accommodate my needs; he even found time to come and meet me when I couldn’t leave work! He really made me feel catered to throughout the entire process.
