I've had work or created pieces with this group before, and until now thought this was a reputable place. The last time I had a watch battery on my Seiko watch replaced, it was a dud, and I had to return to get a replacement. It wasn't an easy process. I could understand that to a degree. Today, was terribly different. After speaking with Mr. Godwin by phone, I explained I was in a terrible bind with a gem that had to be mounted before Thursday. He replied, "you shoulda called me first . . . and you need to be here before 4pm because I need to go watch a tennis match" So we retrieved the 1.3 ct gemstone from the other jeweler, and in total drove over 2 hours to see the Famous Mr. Godwin. He about treated me like he'd never seen me, was curt, and essentially told me I'd have to sign a waiver to have him do a relatively simple rectangular mounting (which I could understand). THEN, because I was assembling the piece for my best friend's 35th Wedding Anniversary (and he is buying this from me) the INFAMOUS GODWIN decided, "I don't want any part of that . . ." This person appears to me to have made more dollars than sense, and he behaves like a regular Prima Dona -- he even told me that another jeweler in Tallahassee wouldn't do it when they had already agreed to! What a total waste of time going to Godwin Jewelers. Service is a minus 5 if I could...
Read moreFirst of all, I have 2 dear friends, who live out of town, go on and on about this store over a year ago. They came into town to help me work through the death of my stepdaughter. I needed them to occupy themselves for a few hours. They ended up here! When we met up for dinner that night, they were wearing their jewelry proudly. ( These girls know “good stuff” from “bad”... ) I live across the street from this store in downtown Thomasville.... I haven’t had a need / want to buy any jewelry. BUT I did need a battery for my watch. I also needed an antique silver water pitcher cleaned. It was in need of serious professional help. I came in today to pick up my watch and my silver pitcher. Here is THE SHOCKER... I was charged $10 dollars!!! Yep... soak that in... 10 dollars. That was for the battery AND for cleaning my embarrassingly NASTY silver water pitcher. I hugged the man. I tried to pay him more- he wouldn’t let me. I promise you, if I still lived in Atlanta, I would have been charged at least $250 to clean that water pitcher. Our anniversary is in October. I will be scoping out their jewelry counters next month. My husband will be called on his cell to buy my service award very soon. Buy local! Support your neighbors! Alice...
Read moreI had the pleasure of working with Miranda recently, and I have to say, she provided an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm, welcoming smile, immediately putting me at ease. What really stood out was her knowledge of the products. She took the time to listen to what I was looking for, asked the right questions, and then provided thoughtful recommendations based on my needs without ever feeling pushy. She really seemed to know her stuff, offering insights that made me feel confident in my choices.
