DG Market — Local services in Bakersfield

If i could put 0 stars i would, as a customer, i should be able to get my groceries without a mask. It has recently been stated in the news that Bakersfield will not enforce customers to wear a mask and a business can be FINED if they refuse service because a customer is not wearing one. Well, that happened to us today. We walked in without a mask and we were not told anything. We shopped for our stuff and we got to the checkout line. They guy literally had 2 ITEMS LEFT TO SCAN and the manager came up and told him to stop the process and told us that since we refuse to wear masks they denied us service and told us to leave. After telling her and the wanna-be security guard that there was no law enforcing us to wear a mask and that we have health conditions she refused us service. She literally had nothing to say except that it was company policy or get out.The manager had the nerve to ask me for a dr note to see that i had proof of my condition(severe asthmatic) she has NO LEGAL RIGHT to ask for this whatsoever. Needless to say i WILL be contacting the ADA the FTBA about this and Dollar General has lost...

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and concern regarding an incident of discrimination I witnessed at the Dollar General on Robert's Lane in Oildale, CA, today, May 21, 2025, around 4:15 PM. My significant other, Paul (who is Mexican), and I, Tylisha (who is Black), went to your store to make a purchase. After realizing we had forgotten our bank card at home, we briefly left the store. Upon exiting, the employees working the front registers thought it would be a good idea to yell 'walk out' at us. Despite this unprofessional and discriminatory behavior, we returned to the store to purchase the items we intended to buy. The employees' actions were completely unacceptable and made us feel targeted and disrespected. Yelling 'walk out' at us, especially given our ethnicities, suggests a bias and creates a hostile shopping environment. Dollar General is not a safe place to go shopping I'm going to pull my business away from them every time I go there's panhandlers in the parking lot there's people walking in the store and loading up their shopping carts and running out with food without paying for it the employees or in danger and there's no one to help them don't have they don't have security guards I'm tired of being stressed out every time I go waiting for something to happen it's what it feels like so I'm definitely going to pull away from it cuz I've called corporate in the past and ask for help for these people that work there there's no protection for them employees so I'm going to make sure that I get out of that store and not go back really ashamed can't shot...
