Surprisingly nice little park situated in a mostly industrial area. Free to visit and with a decent-sized lot for a dozen or two cars. There are a handful of trails of various lengths that give wonderful views of the bay and Baltimore close on the other shore. A haven for birds, including songbirds, ducks, and raptors, and other wildlife. There is a fair bit of trash on the shore due to it's location, but the grounds themselves are well maintained. The visitor center itself seems nice but i have only been inside briefly.
Notes from visit in December 2021 - Most of the trails are currently closed until summer due to nesting birds in the western part of the park. Read moreA very pleasant experience. They are handicapped accessible which includes an elevator in the building that can take you down to the trail level.
We went out along the captain's trail to see the captain trash wheel. It's very nice and calming there. We saw a fish of some type in the water in the shallows and deer tracks.
In the building we looked at a couple of different turtles, a beautiful corn snake, and the bald eagle cam which was kind of a thrill. Thrill.
I did not get the name of the employee who helped us out but she's very knowledgeable and dedicated to helping me negotiate the trails in my wheelchair.
She said they have tons of monarchs in monarch season, if that's a thing, in the native plants garden that they have. That sounds delightful.
