Nice excursion that really gives you a feel of being deep and secluded in the woods. The trailhead parking is ample, and access to the trail is pretty straightforward. There are two points of entry, I believe. One is right at the end of the clearing, which has a big wood cut map. There is a 2 to 4 car dirt parking lot there, and the other is at the trailhead. I haven't seen a portapotti out there, FYI. The trail in the wet Spring and early Falll is a MUD TREK! so if you're into it, bring your Mt bike out for a walk! LOL 🥾. The trail winds through the glorified sand bar, which is the sugar trail. There are parts of the trail that wind next to the river and a couple of cool interesting structural artifacts that sit back there in the woods that are out of place with the natural surroundings around. It is a nice couples walk. I have been here several times and dont see many people. It's a nice place to park and enjoy sights 👀 in natural habitat . It is enjoyable to hear the silence, although it is situated where...
Read moreA small grove of Box Elder trees with a trail winding through. This area is pretty confined and when I was there in early December, there was a pretty strong smell of burnt sugar in the air. The area is surrounded by industry and commerce on both sides of the river. Part of the trail is along the rivers edge, and I disturbed a group of ducks as I walked through. I could hear a train and other sounds from across the river but the walk through the Grove was nice. I imagine in the summer it's more scenic. Not much to see in early December. The entire trail takes about 30 minutes to walk. July update - biked here off the Bay City trail system and enjoyed mountain biking the trails. Some hilly, tight turns in a heavily vegetated area. The trails are quieter in the summer months and feel...
