Sunnyside Hatchery — Local services in Beaver Dam

Thank you for being such a great local hatchery! We have always bought our birds from you- you are knowledgeable, quick to respond to messages, and are willing to answer all my questions (we are fairly new chicken owners and still learning). Everyone comments on how beautiful and friendly our chickens are- they follow us around like a dog, come when we call them, and are always in their coop before dark! 😉 You have also donated to my girls’ school here in Beaver Dam. Your donations are what peaked their interest in birds. We are now part of our local 4H- we recently volunteered a few of our chickens to participate in a local petting zoo and will also be showing some at the fair this year. We currently have 14 chickens and are gifting my daughter 4 “fun” chickens for her birthday- bantam, salmon faverolle, buff Orpington, and a rainbow egger. I had a few questions in regards to the bantams- I left a message yesterday, a lady called me back today but wasn’t able to answer my questions, so she had the owner call me. We have used Sunnyside since we began raising chickens. Starting with our son, who ordered (chicks) birds and from that year on they knew it was him ordering! He was certainly impressed that the hatchery knew him by name, and we were too! We’ve continued to use them for turkeys, started hens, and meat bird chickens. They are very responsive and work hard to locate what we are searching for. I also feel their customer service is second to none ones! If something gets missed, or they don’t have availability (due to people panicking & over ordering-they do their best to get us birds asap! Very caring people and helpful. Also very reasonable in pricing, as they could have gouged customers during some of these shortages, & they chose not to do that! WARNING! This hatchery is sending left over chicks out that are already on feed. Day old chicks are safe to send as they are still feeding off thier yokes. It is risky and overall more stress on chicks to be sent out as they get older because they NEED food and water and will end up coming dehydrated or dead. Watch for formed wing feathers and missing the hatching tooth on thier beak. We received a 200$ order yesterday with a dead chick that had been in the box so long it was dried to the bottom like a raisin. After talking with 3 people, not one apologized. Instead they unashamedly told me my chicks had been in the back on feed before shipment. They also told me that this is normal...
