I used to love this market, and have shopped here for many years. I understand that they are buying 'seconds' produce (stuff that is bruised and/or has been around a bit and not 'fit' for the normal stores) which means that you do have to inspect what you are buying. It also doesn't last as long as the 'normal' stuff from other stores.
That's fine, we always planned accordingly, and made sure to check for mold before we purchased.
However, apparently you are no longer allowed to check for mold. They expect you to buy the produce without question, regardless of if it is spoiled. If they catch you inspecting the produce, the staff will yell at you.
A few months ago I was there to buy strawberries. They were on sale, but their berries are NOTORIOUS for being moldy. I'm allergic to mold, so I can't just 'pick out the good berries' when there is mold in the container. One of the staff saw me and started yelling at me that I wasn't allowed to look into the container and that I could buy it or leave. So I left.
I decided to give them another chance. I went today and they had corn on sale. I decided to get a few, and happened to just barely split open the top of the husk to ensure it wasn't moldy. I was told to 'Not check, peel, or snap to corn. If you do it again I'll ask you to leave.'
After these two incidents and witnessing the staff being rude to others, I won't be returning. From now on I will shop elsewhere where I am not berated for ensuring what I am buying isn't spoiled and wont cause me an...

Read moreMy fiancee and I have always loved coming here but today changed that. The lack of professionalism in changing a sale that was sent in an email and posted before the ending of business day was disappointing. If it had already been taken down that would be one thing but to witness the guy saunter by the checkouts saying no more deals and then proceed to take down sale signs for strawberries and blueberries in front of patrons who were currently picking up cases for said sale without acknowledging any of them was distatstful to say the least. Even if it would've have been explained why the sale was now no longer valid and an apology or just anything other than the manner in which signs were just ripped down and replaced, I would be be more understanding. Keep on pushing your cart full of pricing signage sir, hope you don't continue being that rude to all of your customers. I would hate to see yet another business go under due to a lack of good...
