Rio 6 Cinema — Local services in Beeville

We showed up and paid for a movie about 15 minutes early. After sitting for awhile, we noticed it was 5 minutes past time for the movie to start. At 7 minutes past, my husband went to ask what was going on and was told " We are working on it - we have projector trouble" When he came back and announced this to the only other group in our theater audience, they told us " Yes, we were here for the noon matinee and we had to leave without seeing that movie also because the cinema was having power trouble. I bet we aren't seeing this one either." Sure enough after another 10 mins, someone finally came in and said the movie would not be shown and we could get a refund or a movie voucher, and that they were sure the next showing would work. We chose to get a refund and had to wait about 10 minutes for that because they had only ONE register open and were selling tickets to another movie. This theater used to be really good and have good service. Seems like it has...

So this is the reason i gave one star. This place in my view has a very shady approach to business. I refuse to believe that they cant have one or to staff that are obviously present sell tickets. To sell tickets at the concession stand and be no different then stores that put the candy and such items at checkout line for those pushy as kids who cant resist. Thiss also leads right into the second point as to why this is fustrating. Because while the manager and rest of staff is busy pumping out purchases at concession stand the delay in announced start time ia ridiculously long. The movie trailer started a whole 25 min from announced time. This was not a one time occurrence. I will make it a point not to attend and rather travel to corpus for better service and quality. Sound also leaves something to be desired. Hbopefully they will use some of the concession stand overkill and put it for improvement....

Very disappointed in this theater. I drive 30+ miles to come to this theater from Refugio. When I brought my son on opening day to see spiderman not only was the theater dirty with cups and popcorn everywhere, the projector broke and we could not watch the movie. I understand things happen, but even though we were given tickets to see the movie at a later date I still used that much gas to see the movie twice. My biggest upset however is that when I asked to be compensated for our popcorn, nachos, and drinks, my request was refused. Ridiculous considering we didn't get to enjoy any of it and I even had a receipt. We also bought candy on that day, but I wasn't even asking for that just the popcorn, nachos, and drinks. I was told by a team leader that the manager would not approve. I likely will not return to this theater and take my business to Portland North...
