I recently consigned a 2017 Thor with PPL and, boy, what a mistake.
When I dropped off the unit there was a quick inspection where a few issues were identified and repair recommendations made. I agreed and told them I’d rather pay for the repairs upfront instead of out of the proceeds of the sale. They said this was fine, yet never happened. This was the first time they ignored my wishes, but, make no mistake. It wasn’t the last.
While at the location they determined that the unit should be listed at $71k with my base price at $60k. That said, be careful if you do make the mistake of listing with them because this gives them carte blanche to lower the price without talking to you. They don’t appear to use that bottom dollar number to negotiate, instead use it to lower the price and do so, aggressively, to make a quick sale.
While discussing the sale, I was told that class c’s were selling slower than other RV’s, and it would take between 3-6 months to sell. Then, without any communication, they cut the price, quickly, $71k to $67k, then all the way down to $63k
I voiced my displeasure about the cuts because we are getting into “RV season” and told them once my contract was up, I would pick up the RV. I was then contacted by a gentleman in Houston, who assured me that there was interest and that they would work to sell it. I let him know that I was going out of town for the month of May, and once I got back, if it had not sold, I would be picking it up.
Again, despite voicing my displeasure about pricing, they unilaterally cut the pricing to $60k. I then sent an email to my contact there, a woman with whom I rarely talked to; who effectively refused to call me back, telling her $60k was wholesale, and at wholesale, I would not do any repairs upon the sale. The tone of my email was very clear, I was not happy with the fact that they had prematurely cut the price.
Shortly after, I received an email from the manager who told me, for whatever reason, that he understood that I wanted to keep the price at $60k for the next 30 days, I never said that, I specifically said I felt $60k was too low and premature. He went on to say that he felt that it would be advantageous to lower the price by just a little - $5 - to $59,995 in order to draw traffic to the unit. This was done, again unilaterally, and, no doubt, is below the bottom contracted price that I agreed.
Within 24 hours, I get a call from a woman at PPL telling me that they had a contract on my unit, but the marker light was out. This again shows that they ignored everything that I said, because I was very clear that at $60k I wouldn’t repair anything, and here they have it listed below the bottom contracted price that I agreed to sell, yet they are asking me to pay for more repairs.
I asked her, what it sold for, and she could not give me a price, telling me, instead, that sales would relay that to me and someone would call me shortly. I never received a phone call about price. I called back later that day, and the next day, asking the same question, never getting an answer. Finally, midday, the next day the manager told me it sold at $59,995, now, this is below my agreed-upon sale price, while it’s only five dollars, it violates our contract. This seems to not be a big deal to anyone, it should be and it should be a red flag to anyone looking to list here.
After the sale I was sent ACH form and despite filling it out, they sent me a check. Normally, this would not be an issue, however, I told them I would be out of town for the month of May. Just another time they ignored something I said.
They were aware that I was not happy with their pricing, and I was willing pick up the RV rather than sell it wholesale, yet, they turn price it below my bottom price in order to rush out the door. This type of practice is absolutely appalling.
I don’t think this place is not looking out for their customers. I think they are dishonest, and I believe, by selling a unit for under their contracted price that I agreed on, they are, at a...

We got the full inspection with them so that they will be able to do any repairs, and the seller will have to pay for the repairs if needed. PPL is also going to clean the unit. We found a beautiful unit for our family and we couldn't be happier. Can't wait to pick it up next week 🙌
AFTER PICKUP:
PPL IS GREAT AT MAKING THE SALE, CUSTOMER SERVICE ETC, BUT THEIR PRODUCT WHICH IS THEIR SERVICE INSPECTION/CLEANING DEAL ($1200) NOT WORTH IT FOR US.
Rv has couple of annoying issues, oddly after purchasing. Thermostat was on and "working" but came to realize never working properly and was leaking a huge watery mess all over the floor, but guess what we found out? Whoever did inspection or touched AC last had the vent completely closed, and after we opened the vent and spent the day out, upon returning, the leak disappeared and no more leak thank God; however that same AC in the living room doesn't ever turn off like the bedroom does regardless of temp even if set to auto. Like right now we have a digital thermostat we bought and says temp is 69°F even though we set RV thermostat to 74°F. We did not know about this on closing day. We assumed and trusted that the week long inspection process was going to make sure that was working. We now need to figure out why it doesn't turn off ever unless we turn off all AC.
We purchased an extended 5 year warranty for over $4k with each claim having a $100 deductible, but we hoped for the RV to run smooth for a while before having to use it.
Additionally, one of the burner knobs on the stove doesn't even turn and is stuck like glue, and that was also supposed to be a part of the inspection.
Also, we came to find out that no one cared to put caulk/sealant inside the kitchen sink, so we had to take care of that which we discovered after a huge leaking mess under the sink and that the pipes under the sink were loose and spilled water everywhere. Manager said its not apart of their inspection, but maybe it should be! We assumed everything would be ready for use. Make sure you check that when you buy a used one.
Another issue was that the fridge condensation or water collector was not properly attached and is actually broken unable to attach properly, causing another leak under the fridge, and now the wood underneath the fridge is very soft and damp. Manager said this is not apart of the inspection either, only checking the fridge temps.
Regardong the cleaning we paid for, even though Connor said they would clean but just not in detail, the RV was not clean at all besides counter surfaces looking clear and the floors were incredibly filthy with sharp objects on the floor in several places like sharp shards of wood and small metal screws as if no one cleaned it. Connors explanation of the cleaning was something I depended on and at least expected floors to be cleaned, but they were absolutely not touched in any way.
PPL manages their business 1 way, and we have to respect that and how they make money inside their business model, but they didn't ensure I go on to tell others about where to buy their RVs.

Read moreThis review serves one purpose only…to inform trusting, unsuspecting potential buyers from making a bad decision to do business with PPL Motorhomes in Summerfield Florida like I did. While this review comes 1 year after my purchase, I decided to write it after being pushed over the edge to do so. While it would take an hour to list all the things that were wrong in this fiasco, I will tell you what’s the biggest problem with buying from PPL. The seller of the unit fills out paperwork for the sale and can purposely not disclose everything about the unit. In my case the seller did not reveal that the roof on his Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel was damaged. RV Armor opened up the roof, made repairs and coated the roof. I was never told this, PPL says they didn’t know about it, I saw in the sellers paperwork that they never mentioned anything about the roof being damaged and repaired. Had I known this had happened I never would have bought it. PPL paperwork at closing covers them legally , they know how this works. They protect themselves legally, the owner purposely leaves out information that might compromise the sale, then you are stuck with no recourse. The roof already had to be recoated 2 times this past year. What happens if RV Armor goes out of business. The thing that angers me most…PPL wouldn’t allow me to go on the roof on their property for insurance purposes. I wanted to check it out, I was not allowed to have someone inspect the unit before buying. My only option was to pay PPL $750 to inspect the unit and if there were any problems the owner would have to pay to repair any problems. I was told the roof was in good shape after the inspection. I paid them the $750 and had them inspect it, against my better judgement. When I saw the roof for the first time it was obvious the roof had been opened up at some point because the cut in the membrane was easily visible. Now I am stuck and there’s nothing I can do, and all PPL says is they didn’t know about it. If they inspected it as I paid them to do they would have seen the roof situation clearly. There’s even a sticker at the front door entrance saying the camper has an RV Armor roof. When I eventually saw the sticker myself, all I did was call RV Armor, gave the VIN # and they told me the whole story, and sent me pictures of the work in progress they had done. PPL should have found this all out before I did. So if you buy from them, just beware that you could be buying a problem that’s been hidden from PPL , and more importantly from you. PPL is protected legally, you are not, keep...
