Sunset Hills Memorial Park — Local services in Bellevue

I want to share my appreciation and gratitude for the efforts put in from Montana (day of services and days after), as well as Vesper (days after services) at Sunset Hills Funeral Home. Many of us family members (myself included) reside out of state, and we tried to ensure our loved one had flowers for their service, while a few of us were also busy coordinated traveling to town for the service. We found we made the mistake of picking the wrong floral shop (Finishing Touch Florists & Gifts in Bellevue - do NOT work with them!) in that they never sent a delivery notice/confirmation, and they didn't follow protocol on delivery at the funeral home. Because of all that, the flowers we ordered never made it to the service, as the staff at Sunset Hills had no way to know who the flowers were for. I was shocked that there was no label/log with our loved ones names present!

Montana was present at the services, and knowing the disappointment and compounded sadness we were feeling from the missing flowers, she took it upon herself to try and track down what occurred, and work with her leaders (including Vesper) to try and make it right. They even attempted to request a refund from the florist on our behalf, but the florist pushed back.

Vesper connected with me when I had no luck trying to work with the florist myself. She wanted to make things right, so her and the funeral home went above and beyond to create a flower arrangement similar to the one we expected, to put in a basket that could be set by our loved one's final resting place. The flowers were beautiful! Vesper took the time to take photos of the new arrangement at the facility and after placement, so that we could share with all the remote family as well as local family.

We are beyond impressed how the staff at Sunset Hills worked hard to take care of us and address the very unfortunate situation. I'm beyond grateful for everything they did, as we all know they didn't have to. They truly showed how much they care about their clients. I highly recommend getting florist recommendations from the team at Sunset Hills if you're remote or unsure of the area, as they know some solid companies to work with.

Mixed experiences dealing with Sunset Hills. Almost a decade had passed since my last dealing with them. My first experience, although expensive, had no hiccups and no surprises. Everything went flawlessly.

A decade later and unfortunately I was required to utilize their services again for a death in the family. The experience was horrible, the communication was worse, and the nickel & diming was unacceptable. It all started with the "oh we forgot to add the recording service fees:, then it was "we didn't add tax", and finally it was "we didn't charge you for the inscription". Some of this was brought to our attention just a day before service and they indicated they needed it paid asap.

The death happened in October and the burial also in October, just last month they installed the marker/headstone. It wasn't a complicated marker or anything, just an inscription and it took almost half a year. This certainly wasn't the case my first time around. What was worse was the lack of communication and followup; I constantly had to check with them to even get them to send me a proof to approve (we're just talking name and dob/dod) and that took over a month!

Their hard work looked effortless and during our sadness they gave us peace of mind and a full heart. They worked so hard and we thank them so much for all that they did we can’t thank them enough.
