On Sunday, September 7th at 9 am our non profit group Calabria Mia who planned on shopping at Ocean State Job Lot after a bus trip to a fund raiser. The manager of the store came outside after seeing our bus come into the lot with a clip board and pen and was writing down license plate numbers and threatened if we did not remove our vehicles from the parking lot she would have our vehicles towed. The store was not busy at all. We did speak to her and we called the property management company. We did discover that Ocean State only rents the building and does not own it. We did try to plead with the young girl who claimed to be in charge and the store manager. She stated to 3 different members that she would personally have our vehicles towed if we did not leave the parking lot. We also asked if we could park in the far back of the stores parking lot, she still said she would call the local police and have us towed no matter where we asked her to park. Again this is a huge parking lot and in no way could they fill it with vehicles. The manager was completely rude and there was no reason to come outside with a clipboard. Obviously she took her manager position to a whole new lever of rude!
I would never ever shop in this store again and I would ask my fellow local community not to shop in this store. The manager of this store should be fired by #oceanstatejoblot. This store does not need a prison warden to monitor the parking lot. If that is her main concern the store senior managers need to find her something to do. Coming from a retail background I would 100% say the store needs to be cleaned, shelves stocked, merchandise is a mess and no staff to be found in the store. She calls herself the manager, perhaps she should worry about managing the inside of the store and not worry what customers cars she will have towed. #oceanstatejoblot #berlinct...
Read moreCustomer service is atrocious. No patience. The manager is even worse. The Spanish woman in the front has an attitude issue speaks to you in a rush and doesn’t explain anything properly on top holding conversations with other individuals in the store while attempting to check your order out. I purchased multiple items and I had a Card with some crazy deals dollars in it I paid with the crazy deals card then the remainder on my card. I returned 1 item out of the multiple item purchase and was given back the crazy deals card amount back as store credit and the remainder in cash. Seemed weird to me. When I questioned the process cashier got erratic and called the manager who made no difference. Mind you I was calm and collective throughout the entire process just wanted to know why they would give back the crazy deals as store, credit and the rest in cash based off one item when it was used for a multiple...
Read moreI am so grateful for the great bargains and super-attentive staff at OSJL in Berlin, CT. Last night, I mistakenly left my billfold at one of the register countertops there. It had my IDs, credit cards, checks, cash - you name it. Once I realized I had left it, it was too late to call the store. As you can imagine, I spent a sleepless night. However, when I went to the store at 8:00 am - and thank goodness, too, for holiday extended hours at OSJL - Customer Associate Liz and Store Manager Gene told me they had found my billfold before anyone else had - and had locked it away for safekeeping. Thank goodness for these OSJL kind people and retail professionals! I do enjoy shopping at this OSJL location in particular, and now everyone who reads this will get an idea of how great the staff members are there. Thanks, OSJL Berlin CT for helping keep my...
